Findon Village Hall Trust Tru$tses' Annual Report {¢oniinu•dJ Year ended 31 August 2024 Achlevements and perfornianc• The major achievement since the last AGM is bringing the new èxtension, now known as Nepcote Hall, into use and overcoming the inevitable initial teething Iroubles. We were, of course, very fortunate to have the support of the Parish Council and the Public Works Loan they arranged lo undertake the buililing work. Equipping the new hall, includin9 fitting the kilchen, was then eompleled from hall fun(fjy plus the generous support of the Village Shop who funded the PA system. The major issues we faced were noise related.. First was one of poor acoustics ￿thin both Nepcole and chanctOn￿ry halls because of excessive hard surface refleclion$ wlhin each room. These were addressed by fitting acoustic panels in both room5, these reduce the reflection of sound. and therefore the echo, wlhin the individual halls, The Second was excessive noise Iransmi88ion bet￿ten tha h8115 so that 5irnultaneous events were marred by noise from one hall into the other elc. This h88 required land al the end of the Financial Year will require) more ambitlOU5 modifications. It 18 anlicipaled that thls work VAII have been completed by the and of the cBlendar year and will involve modifications lo the common wall and the interconnecting door arrangemenli. This apart, the commissioning of the new hall ha5 gone well and we are delighted lo See good levels ol activity in bc*lh halls. In fact we are now In a posltion where could nol support all the evening booklngy we have unles$ we had both halls avablable. Other Improvements that were made include in8lalling fencing along the lop of the earth retaining wall oulslde the Chanctonbury kitchen. this was part funded by a Parish Council grant but also represented signif￿an1 co61 lo the Trust. This has finally addressed a 6I9nlftcanl trip hazard Irom the 9rasged area down a vertical drop lo the pathway. The demand lor the hall a5 a venue for children's birthday parties that developed in volume as a result of the pandemic has continued and we are seeing other lamity celebrats'on booking loo. These are all especially welcome because many ol Ihern take place at weekends vthen the halllsl would olheM8e often be qulel. We used the cpportunity offered us by the new capaclty to open the hall as a warm place for tea and biscuit aflemoons once a week over the winter. This Proved popular and helped us provide a service lo people we donl often see in the hall. This 15 not run a5 a fund raising activity and the charge is only £1 for a5 much tea and biscuits ag people want. In a gimllar vein, we became aware during the year that the people vtho have organised the "Light Lunches" in the hall for many yeary are retiring al the end of 2024. We are very pleased that the hall has been able le pull together a team of volunteers tho will lake on this activity as an integral part of the Trusts aclivibes from January 2025. Clearly. given the calls on TTUSt fund6 relating lo the equipping ol Nepcole hall. the acoustic measures elc, there has bgen $ignilicanl investment this year and the bank reserves show a commensurale reduction. This was a￿ayS planne¢J and ig not ¥ cause for concern.
