## **Annual Report for the Micklepage Trust December 2022**

**The chair and trustees of the Micklepage Trust are happy to report that the Trust can continue to meet its charitable objectives following the challenges presented by Covid 19 lockdown and subsequent lack of income over a protracted period.**

**The good governance provided by the trustees, assisted by volunteers, well-wishers and contractors enabled the trust to weather the storm of uncertainty that was caused by the necessity of lockdown and social distancing.**

**The existence of solid reserves and good fiscal management, past and present, enabled the trust to continue in its objectives of providing a place of community and peaceful reflection for a diverse cross section of society. Many parish, school and family groups benefitted from the environment provided by the trust to renew mind, body and spirit when eventually group gathering was reauthorised by our government and health advisors.**

**This success was augmented by the trusts successful efforts to engage committed local contractors and neighbour volunteers to assist in day-to-day maintenance and management of the trust’s building and grounds. We are eternally grateful to them.**

## **Recruitment of Trustees**

**The trust has been successful in recruiting new trustees to the board (Micklepage Council). Some of these have a long association with the trust as past users, or visitors and we are delighted to have this association which we trust will enable the unique ethos of Micklepage to continue for future generations.**

## **Future plans**

**The trust continues to review its practice and policy to enable the widest access and enjoyment of the charity service. Following the successful improvements to accessibility in the farmhouse the trust turns its attention to the possibility of raising funds to review and improve accessibility across both buildings. In addition, we are seeking to improve our website to allow improved access to bookings.**

## **Environmental matters**

**The trust is aware of its duty of stewardship of the natural environment and landscape surrounding the trust land. The trust has reached out to local conservation groups for advice and assistance and drawn on the expertise of trust members in this regard.**

**The trust has been vigilant and successfully contributed to local community objections to inappropriate local development that we successfully argued would negatively affect the trusts objectives and the unique conservation value of the trusts site.**

**Next steps**

**The trustees will continue in our efforts to ensure the fulfilment our charitable objectives.**
