Because of the continuing vacancy for the rectorship of Coddenham, there is currently no ex-officio
trustee in place. Mr John Pelling acted a5 clerk to the Trustees throughout the year.
Objectives and activities
The charity was established by the will of Rev Baltazar Gardemau. a former vicar of the parish. who
died in 1739, and its objectives were varied in 2001. The income of the Trust is available to the vicar
and churchwaTdens of the Parish of Coddenham for reli8i0U5 and other charitable work of the
Church of England in Coddenham. including maintaining the fabric of the Church, and to make grants
to the Trustees of the Lady Catherine Gardemau EducatFon Foundation and of the Lady Catherine
Gardemau Charity for the Poor.
During 2020, the charity joined with other local community groups to participate in a village website,

arIsh.U￿. and established a restiicted fund to hold grants and other income to
fund this website.
Strurture, governance and management
The Trustees are appointed by the Board of Trustees from amongst regular churchgoers to St Mary's
Church, Coddenham.They meetquarterly. oras necessary.
Financial Review
The Charl￿$ endowment fLsnds continue to be invested largely in listed investment trusts selected
by our managers, Charles Stanley & Co Limited. with two small property holdings. The tenant on one
holding surrendered the lease at the beginning of 2022, and the Trustees continue to seek a way of
maximising its value. The listed investments gained in value in line with market forces. As well as
continuing to help with variou5 expenses of the North Bosmere benefice lintluding Coddenhaml, the
Charity continued to 5UPPOrt its ttvo sister Charities.

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charivs trustee5
consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 Ithe
Charitie5 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
Examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities act.
To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission
(under section 1451Sllbl of the Charities Act, and
To state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examinees statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity
Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a
comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any
unusual items or disclosures in the accounts. and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning
any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required
in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given a5 to whether the accounts present a 'true and fairf
view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
