Roman Cathollc Purposes in Connection with the Misslonary Convent
(Sisters) of the Holy Rosary• Charity Number 229669
At present the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary have just one convent in England,
situated in Coventry. Gradually over the years our other convents in England have closed
due to lack of personnel. Most of the Sisters retired to Ireland, when they could no longer
serve their local community and / or take part in fund raising activities due to illness or
frailty.
With effect from 1st June 2023, a decision has been made to transfer the Congregation from
Central Region Ilrelandl to a Mission Unit under the auspices of the Generalate of
Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary.
Our Community in Coventry comprises three Sisters. In previous years, two of the Sisters
have been involved in Pastoral work, one visiting the old and the sick in their homes and
when hospitalised. She is also involved in training others to do this work. The other Pastoral
Sister works in the poorer part of the Parish which is also highly multicultural. She too is
involved in visiting the needy, the parents of schoolchildren and other Parish activities. Our
third Sister is involved in Ecumenical work, developing the outreach of the Chapel of Unity
and engages with Justice and Peace issues, raising awareness of the needs of asylum seekers
and refugees. care of the earth etc. as well as training Church readers.
The work of the Sisters while ongoing is on a reduced basis in view of recent health
emergency and other factors.
The Community sees its prayer for the sufferings and needs of the world and of the locality
as of primary importance. Because of the increasing age, health restrictions and ongoing
care needs the Sisters were unable to take part in any fund raising activities this year. The
Receipts and Payments accounts submitted consist of the receipts and payments associated
with the running of the Community.
