Prestbury WI Trustees Report
Year to 31[st] August 2023
Currently Prestbury Women’s Institute has 91 members, 13 of whom who joined within the year. The average attendance at our monthly meetings has been 62. At these meetings we have a “donation box” where the members contribute many varied items for local charities – nonperishable food, accessories, etc. This is a well-supported exercise much needed by families who are struggling or those who are homeless.
We have a very efficient general committee, who work extremely well together, headed by our dedicated President. The W.I. Hall is rented out to many permanent lets and the W.I. has put on several fundraising events to which our village folk enjoy coming. We have had a defibrillator fitted to an outside wall of the building. Training to use it has been given to the members and also the public by one of our own members who is qualified to do this. There are “in-house” activities, which have been enjoyed by our members, led by several sub-committees who are inspirational. There have been several members who have attended courses arranged by our Gloucestershire Federation and have been greatly enjoyed.
The Hall committee has been extremely busy organising building work and getting quotes at the hall to replace the toilets and drains and to build a ramp at the front door to enable the hall to have a second disabled entrance. This work is to commence in early January 2024.
