Trustees’ Annual Report for Prestbury Womens Institute for year to 31 August 2021

This year has been difficult with all the restrictions of COVID 19 and Prestbury W.I. has been closed for several months. However, our membership stands at 87 including 6 new members. The officers and committee of 2020-2021 have continued to work hard on behalf of the members. Last Christmas all the members received a Christmas “Goodie Bag”, contents hand-made and delivered personally by the Committee. We were not forgotten.

Prestbury W.I. should have celebrated it’s Centenary in February. Sadly we could not do so but around Prestbury, many members decorated their house windows to advertise the Centenary date, which was 14th February.

At Easter each member received a posy of flowers again arranged and delivered by the committee.

Around this time our new W.I. Flag, which had been designed by a member, was commissioned and now flies in the W.I. Grounds.

Restrictions were beginning to be lifted in June and small groups of six began meeting socially in the W.I. Hall and members’ gardens.

The Hall was opened in August for our meeting, which was a belated Centenary Birthday Party and was a wonderful occasion. We have a large “100 year” key made by a family member, which will be erected close to the 25, 50, 75, year keys which will make a wonderful display above the stage in the hall.

Throughout Lockdown and meetings of limited numbers, monthly newsletters were circulated to all members, with photos of what they had busied themselves with. They made very interesting reading.

Meetings resumed properly in September with the normal activities taking place. A new walking group has been initiated and proves very popular

Activities involving the village have taken place with caution and have been successful.

Most of our regular Lets have returned plus one or two new ones. This is encouraging and they are all proving successful and abiding by COVID and safety rules. The Trustees still have total confidence in the Officers and General Committee. They, and the members, are grateful for the dedication to Prestbury W.I. and hard work that has been done by the said committee during another difficult year.
