Constitution and clian&Te of name were appi'oved by the Cliarity Coinmission.
The receipts and payments account on page 3 and the statement of asscts and liabilities on pagc 4 have

The Chai'ity is govci'ned by the CoiistitLltion and I'egulations dated December 1964 as atnendcd I l April
1979. 12 March 1991, 17 Mai'ch 1998 aiid 15 Novembei. 2007.
Trustees are appointed and IEmoved by thc Joint Executive Commiltee (or any equivalent successor
body). TheiE were seven meetings of the Trustees in 2023.
Objectives and actlvities
The objects of the Charity are:
A. To provide benefits to members or employees or ex-employees of Unite the Union or any successor
union (liereinafter refei'red to as 'the Union,) or their dependents, who may be in distressed
circumstances.
B. To consider applications fi'om the piiblic whether mcmbers of tlie Union or not, at the disci'etion of
the Fund.
C. To make monetary grants or donations or render other assistance to any institution or association
which can also render benefits of assistancc to distressed persons as more specifically referred to in
claus¢s A or B above.
The main activity in relation to these objects is the payment of gi'ants to beneficiai'ies.

Payinents totalled £133,201 (2022: £111,293) of which £65,055 (2022: £91,961) was paid out in gi?nts
to beiieficiai'ies and £60,107 (2022.. £14.347) r¢lated to purcliase of assets rctained foi. investment
piirposes. Net Irceipts were £33,198 (2022.. Net payments £3,390).
The resti'icted funds balance of £54,657 is in respect of the Jack Laity beqLiest to the UNifi Branch
Bi'istol & Avon for the beiiefit of theii. members. LfNIFI used this Inoii¢y to eslablish the Paliliiic Oritz
FLiiid and si)cnt £21 k of tlie oi'iginal beqiicst. Thc balance was held by AMICUS for seven yea13 and
was finally transfei'red into tliis chai'ity in eai'ly 2012.
The Ti'ustees al'e inonitoi'ing closely the iinpact that the curi'ent econom ic and political enviiDninent
may have on the Charity's dividend income and believe thc shoit to medium term impact on liquidity
will iiot atT¢ct the ability ofthe Charity to fulfil its aims and commitmeiits.
Reserves
The Funds, Triistees are of tlie opinion tliat iincommitted i'esei'ves should be kept to a Ininiinum.
Howcvci., thoiigh thc Bencvoleiit Fund is anxious to fulfil this, it is still mindful to distribute all monies
reccivcd only to tlie Inosi deseiving applicants.
