2025 CHAIRMANS REPORT March 4th

This year I complete 21 years in the chair and 35 as a trustee. Its been a challenge and privilege to lead the team for such a long time.

We recruited Karen Blackwell as Secretary this year which brings us up to our maximum of 10 trustees. All trustees have played different active roles so we are going in a good direction.

We start with our 19[th] Annual Youth Sports Award in April 2024 which saw a new record of 22 clubs get Awards at Redruth School. Investing over £20,000 of clothing, equipment and rewards to individuals and clubs. Plus our first ever Making A Difference in Sport shield to David Veasey of Gazelles Gymnastics club for a lifetime of organising and coaching. Great support from Katherine at CGS and Paul at CGM for sourcing goods Also BIG trophies from Tony at Cornwall Trophies.

In July a record 8 different trustees visited our 10 schools to present our 20[th] Annual Fred Harris Education Awards. Kerrie liaised with schools and this year they chose their own books which worked well. Anna applied to Tesco Groundwork Funding and we won £1,500 which will boost our FHEA books to schools in 2025. We are targeting wellbeing books.

In October we held our 31[st] Annual Community Awards night at Penventon Park Hotel with over £9,000 invested in our Community groups.. Scott produced and wrote the show and shared the comparing with Alan. We had 35 clubs attend as we go back to levels pre covid which is a sign of some recovery. Scott organised a wonderful singer from RAMPS and the show was a great success. Awards presented by Gold Sponsors PV Hotel and Specsavers. Father Peter was awarded the first Clive Blake shield for services to the Community. Clive was a previous Chairman prior to me and a great Redruth GP and man of the Town.

Thanks to Matt and Morgan of CFS for filming and livestreaming our shows.

All our Sponsors stayed with us this year and we benefitted from our first ever legacy payment of £10,400 from the estate of Russell Grigg who was a local rotarian, rugby man and businessman in the town. We received some funeral collections and a donation from the new GOMBC. BEV-LYN School of Dancing donated to us from their 60[th] Anniversary DIAMONDS shows at the Regal. RAMPS have picked us at their chosen charity this year.

We also receive support from St Day JFC, Redruth RFC and C/R Motor Club.

We have put up new advertising boards at St Day JFC, Redruth RFC, Redruth United FC, Redruth CC, Mt Ambrose CC and Victoria Park to replace old and broken ones from 10 years ago.

Also in education we have supported RLG presentation Awards and shows at the Regal. The ARB unit at Redruth School with outside recreational areas in partnership with Kier Construction. This work will happen soon as its at planning stage as I write.

We have again joint funded a project with Local Lions/Rotary clubs which is a great partnership.

We delivered 140 Christmas Cards to say thanks to all our Sponsors and supporters plus a very good Sponsors Reward day at the Reds where we crammed the Tribute Lounge with 90 guests.

We continue to grow and work with more agencies. Talks with Town Council, Foodbanks and more are ongoing and we strive to increase the investment in our special town and district where we live.

Big thanks to those trustees already mentioned and Nigel still my first lieutenant and Monique for financial security. I am so proud of the trust and the team. Thanks to our best ever loyal Sponsors.
