CHAIRMANS REPORT REDRUTH CHARITY TRUST APRIL 2022
We look back on a second year of restrictions and covid life and continuing our aim to MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN REDRUTH .
My reflection is of great pride that the Trust has kept going and continues to add to our great Community spirit in Redruth and district as I complete 18 Years in the Chair.
Our first Award scheme was the 17[th] Year of the Fred Harris Education Awards supporting all 9 Junior Schools and Curnow Special School in July 2021
We doubled our Sponsors to 10 and Amazon donated the individual gift tokens which meant we invested an increased budget of £4,500. Also Tormark Books of St Day allowed us to buy Cornish booklets on Cooking, Mining, Fishing, Dialect, Railways, Rugby and all things Cornish for every school at good prices.
The Schools loved the Cornish books. We presented to 9 schools some outdoors in the sun and some Year 6 classes only but present is what we did.
Then our 2021 Youth Sports Award Presentation Night was held in August at Redruth School which meant a delay of 3 months due to restrictions.
However 18 clubs applied and we ran with 29 Sponsors.
We have just had our 17[th] Annual 2022 YSA at Redruth School in March and again 18 clubs applied.
2 Bronze Sponsors have stepped back in 2021 but due to 2 upgrades to Gold from Silver and 1 from Bronze to Silver we remained strong financially.
Kathryn Billing was our 2022 Guest Speaker as the Chief Officer of Cornwall and Rescue. The first lady to hold the post in Cornwall and an ex pupil of Treloweth School and Pool Academy. She inspired the Youth especially the girls. Our target areas were girls sport and first aid kits which we achieved.
Chairmans BBQ was back after a years break and we had 70 guests in the back garden at Trevingey in July and raised a new record £2,200. Alan Jewells group played live music and he was king on the auction mike. This was our main fundraiser.
We also raised £600 by a selling a complete collection of 1,000 books and DVDs donated by the late Barry Honeychurch of Plain an Gwarry. Sadly we lost Bev
Jeffery another Trust supporter and we received 2 significant Funeral donations with support via Bernard Williams and Son Funeral Director.
We Held our Presentation night for Community Awards at Penventon Park Hotel in October where we supported 16 Community clubs with a £3,500 spend. Penventon became our first Community Gold Sponsor and they are joined by 2 Silver and 1 Bronze already for 2022. Hopefully more to join?
This was our 29[th] year of Community Awards.
We were able to say thanks to all our Sponsors/Supporters with a Sponsors Reward Day at Redruth RFC for the Clifton game where we hosted 80 guests. Thanks to the Reds for their support as they value what we do.
I have joined the Terry Pryor Trust as a trustee.
I spent a day wrapping Xmas presents at the Foodbank where we hit an all time record for presents wrapped in a day. Rewarding work but a sad indictment of our Society of the need or did we just go without back in the day? Whatever the answer we can see how generous people are donating.
I visited a lot of Sponsors/ Supporters/Schoos delivering my Xmas message inside 150 RCT Xmas cards designed by Anna Oliver trustee. Great to see you.
I extend my appreciation of the difficult circumstances that our Schools/Clubs and Business Partners have endured and hope that it improves whilst covid is unlikely to disappear. Your efforts have been great. We aim to keep working very closely with all of you and your time and money is very valued by us and the Community.
This years progress has been hampered by Jamie standing down and 5 trustees spending a lot of time supporting the health of elderly parents and close family members. We are family first and try to support each other where needed.
2023 will mark our 30[th] Anniversary as a registered Charity and we aim to celebrate. We are a unique charity in Cornwall and love what we do.
A BIG THANKS from me for all your love and support 2021/22.
Thanks finally to my Super 6 Trustees. You have been brilliant this year. More info on our website redruthcharitytrust.ork.uk and Facebook pages. CHRIS HAILEY April 2022 CHAIRMAN RCT
