**Objects:** THE PROMOTION OF THE STUDY OF GEOLOGY BY THE PUBLICATION OF ILLUSTRATED MONOGRAPHS ON BRITISH FOSSILS, AND BY THE HOLDING OF MEETINGS TO BE CONVENED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE COUNCIL TO DISCUSS MATTERS OF PALAEONTOLOGICAL INTEREST.
