## ALDENHAM WAR MEMORIAL HALL 

## ANNUAL TRUSTEES REPORT BY THE CHAIRMAN YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025 

Over the past financial year, Aldenham War Memorial Hall has continued to pursue the mission laid down by the original Trustees in 1922 to provide a space for ‘lectures, concerts, dramatic performances and other public or private entertainments and for meetings, classes and other assemblies…to improve or benefit the spiritual, moral, intellectual and social conditions of the Parish and their friends and visitors without distinction of religion, creed, political opinions, special rank, sex or age. 

During the previous financial year (2023/24), we oversaw unprecedented and substantial work on the hall - including roof repair, guttering system, new fire exit doors, a new kitchen, new bathroom facilities, a new heating system, electrical wiring, completed external landscaping to create our Memorial Garden, raised money for the replacement of windows and damp course repair 

I am happy to report further, substantial work took place in 2024/25.  The damp course was repaired, bathroom facilities refurbished, lighting improved and our long awaited planning permission for window replacement was approved – that approval and our local council grant allowed us to contract replacement windows and begin installation in February 2025.  Many thanks to Aldenham Parish and Hertsmere Councils for their support and to my fellow Trustee, Danielle Alexander, for supervising this vital work. 

We hosted many events throughout the year including weekly community lectures, a special needs group, Aikido, birthday parties, dog training, and Committee hosted events including the barn dance, painting party, quiz night, a pop up café for McMillan and Christmas Carols on the Green.  The Committee also managed the Letchmore Heath Remembrance Sunday event in conjunction with Aldenham School and various participant parties.  Thanks to community generosity, we raised over £1500 for The British Royal Legion. 

In the coming year we will be focused on expanding services, better marketing, total stage refurbishment and fundraising diversification. 

In the 2024 Annual Village Meeting, all of the members of the management committee were re-elected and committee officers remain in their posts. 

I thank all of my fellow Trustees and Committee members for their work to keep Aldenham War Memorial Hall relevant to our user communities.
