**Activities:** The Ri&#x27;s mission is to harness science for the maximum benefit of society. The Ri&#x27;s objects, as defined by the Royal Charter of 1800, are to diffuse knowledge, facilitate the general introduction of useful mechanical inventions and improvements and for teaching by courses of philosophical lectures and experiments, the application of science to the common purposes of life.
