## **Annual report for year ending 31December 2020**
The Board met 10 times ,7 times using Zoom
Five members of the Board retired at the end of October; six new members join the Board for 202123
2020 started with news of fires destroying forests and homes abroad, at home we had floods resulting in cancelled or postponed meetings
In March we welcomed our new secretary Bethan Webber, from that time we have not had any meetings in WI House. adhering to Government rules on social distancing due the COVID-19 Pandemic.
I have attended Virtual Wales committee meetings; the two Federation representatives (Chair and Treasurer) have attended National Council virtual meetings.
All federation and sub committees planned events were cancelled, Larks and Magic meeting in March, Wales conference in theatre Clwyd, in April. Denman visit in May, the AM in London in June, The Royal Welsh Show in July (that we were due to host), Denbigh & Flint show in August, Welsh meeting in September and our Annual Meeting in October. We kept in contact with members through our monthly letters which have been emailed to members, with officers in the WI contacting members who are not on social media.
Several WIs held Virtual monthly meetings, this has opened new horizons, had speakers from different part of the country, not forgetting talks/demonstrations from own talented members.
In April we had the sad news of the closure of Denman, many members have embraced the
Virtual –Denman at Home’ (cost £5) this has proved very popular – courses on various craft, cooking, talks on various subjects in the daytime or evenings no need to travel! You can cook or sew along –or just sit in your armchair.
The Federation and WIs have kept in touch with their members- through various ways e.g. Monthly Letters, wellbeing letter and e mails, WI’s- having picnic in a park or garden, Walking groups, Book clubs, providing Meetings in a Bag for their members, producing, their own Newsletters and keeping in touch by ringing one another. It good to have a chat. Mae Cadw mewn cysylltiad gydan’n gilydd yn bwysig.
Members have been busy making scrubs, masks, scrub bags, hearts for the for the bereaved, shopping -and baking for members in your community. These are just a few things our members have been involved in.
A Federation Fun Quiz was held every 2 weeks on Zoom, which proved popular, 20 questions and a chat. It has given some members confidence to join Zoom and then to join other events on ZOOM. Also, the weekly walking netball and Pilates on Zoom have proved very popular - do look on the CDFWI Website for joining information.
During 2020 we have all learnt new skills – our digital skills improved in leaps and bounds and social media has allowed us to do Virtual meetings, online shopping, keep in touch with family and be involved with grandchildren.
The year came to a close with a very successful Christmas virtual Craft show.
Let look to the future with our newfound skills we have a lot to celebrate.
