The charity wa5 fomied on 21 sl May 1991 and registered undcr the Charities Act, regisiraiion number 2?6547.

The provision and maint¢nance of a convalescent home lor the bencflt of workers who are or hav¢ been
employed in the coal indu%iry in the Lancashire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, North Wales. worcestershi￿ and
Shropshire districts of ihc British Coal Corporation.
If and in so far as ihe convalescent hoine is not required for occupation by such workers aforesaid then the
trusiees may permit the following persons to use the convalescent home upon such lemis and at such ¢harges as
thc trustees may from time lo lime determine.
Conval¢scence for workers who are or who have been employed in the coal indusiry in areas other than the area
of benefit.
The trustees may also provide convalesc¢nce for any persons, and wh¢n appropriate their caTer5, who are or
havc b¢en employed in the coal industry in the area of bcnefit and who are unable because of disability or for

The trustees Consider that ihey have met their objectives for the curreni financial year and hav¢ continued to
provid¢ the level of service to guests. when possible to do so and despite the background of a global pandemic.

to mitigate such losses. The truslees appTeciate therefore that the charity, has a finile length which will be
deiemiined by the level of fund5 held. The trustees tonsider thai the level of reserves currently held is sufficient
for the charity to operate for at leasi the next nventy ycars.
Reserves policy
Expenditurc exceed5 income annually and as custodians of the charhty's funds it is the trustees. policy to
mainiain reserves ai as higih a level as possible given the current economic clima1¢. The charity heavily relie5 on
the perfonnance of ils investi￿ents in order to achieve it5 principal objectiv¢. The perfortnancc of these
investments can be seen in Ihe accounts ai Noic I l.
Plans for future period5
The charity will continue io ¢atYy out its main chariiablc aciiviry and pury)05e and has no plans to increase or
curtail ihe current l¢vel of activity.
The trustees recognise that the charity's operations hav¢ a finit¢ life but consider that the funds held will be
sufficieni lo be able to continue lo provide the level of 5ervic¢ to the charity's beneficiaries for ihe foreseeable
future.
