**Objects:** TO GRANT RELIEF DURING GOOD BEHAVIOUR EITHER BY PENSIONS OR DONATIONS, FIRSTLY: TO DESERVING AND NECESSITOUS PERSONS WHO HAVE BEEN MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY AND THEIR WIVES AND FAMILIES AND THE NECESSITOUS WIDOWS AND FAMILIES OF DECEASED MEMBERS; SECONDLY: TO  PERSONS WHO AT ANY TIME HAVE BEEN ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS OF SHIPBROKERS AND/OR SHIPOWNERS OR BUSINESSES DIRECTLY CONNECTED THEREWITH (EITHER AS PRINCIPALS, MANAGERS OR AS CLERICAL STAFF) IN THE CITY OR PORT OF LIVERPOOL, INCLUDING MEMBERS OF THE LIVERPOOL SHIPPING STAFFS ASSOCIATION NOT BEING AT THE TIME OF THE GRANT MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY WHO ARE IN THE OPINION OF THE COUNCIL IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE, AND THE WIVES, WIDOWS, CHILDREN OR DEPENDANTS OF SUCH PERSONS.

**Activities:** The Society exists to recognise those who have worked within the commerce of shipbroking and shipowning and are in need of assistance; to provide financial assistance where appropriate and provide friendship, care and support where financial assistance is not required; and to provide support, financial or otherwise, to the spouses, widowers, widows, children or dependents of such persons
