If we identify such material inconsistencies or apparent material misstatements, we are required lo determine whether this gives rise to a material misstatement in the accounts themselves. Independent auditor's report Year ended 5 April 2025 Auditor's responslblllties for the audit of the financial statements We have been appointed as auditor under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and report in accordance with the Act and relevant regulations made or having effect thereunder. Our objectives are lo obtain reasonable assurance about whether the accounts as a whole are free from material misstatement, whether due lo fraud or error. and to issue an auditoI5 report that includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance, but is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance with ISAS IUKI will always delect 8 material misstatement when it exists. Misstatements can arise from fraud or error and are considered material if, individually or in the agg￿gate, they could reasonab￿ be expected to influence the economic decisions of sers taken on the basis of these accounts. Irregularities, including fraud, are instances of non-compliance with laws and regulations. We design procedures in line with our responsibilities, outlined above, to delect material misslatemen15 in respect of irregularities, including fraud. The extent lo which our procedures are capable of dete¢ling irregularities, including fraud, is detailed below.. We obtained an understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks that are applicable lo the charity and detemiined that the most significant are the Charities SORP FRS 102 and the Charities Act 2011. We understood how the charity is complying with those legal and regulatory frameworks by making inquiries lo management and those responsible for legal, compliance and govemance pr0￿dUreS. We Corroborated our inquiries through our review of minutes from trustee meetings and papers provided to the trustees. We assessed the susceptsbility of the charity's financial statements lo material misstatements, including how fraud might occur. Audrt procedures performed by the engagement team included.. Identifying and assessing the design and implernentab'on of controls in place to prevent and delect fraud., Performing tests of completeness on the charity's financial records and assessing the requirement for adjustments to be made for the year-end for financial statement preparation., and Assessing the extent of compliance with relevant laws and regulations by reviewing cor￿Spondence with regulators and legal advisors. There are inherent limitations in our audit procedures described above. The rnore removed that laws and regulations are from financial Iransaclions, the less Sikely il is that we would become aware of non-compliance. Auditing standards also limit the audit procedures required to identify non-cornpliance with laws and regulations lo enquiry of the trustees and other management and the inspecb'on of regulatory and legal corresponden￿, if any. Material misslatemenls that ar￿se due to fraud can be harder to detect than those that arise from error as they may involve deliberate concealment or collusion. Sir Harold Hood Charitable Trust 8
