The ancient parish of St Nichola5 remains the primary area of knefit of the ¢haTity although it is now
part of thr Etrlt5ia5tical Parish of StNicholas and St Luk4 Ikpiford. This Parish 15 in one of the poorest
areas of ihe country. The 2016 Joint Strdregtc Needs Ass¢ssmeni ¢ornmi5sioned by the Royal Borgush
of Greenwich includes d*a illustratin8 that the majority Df residents in the primary area of benefji are
living in ho￿l￿g w'ith high levels of benefit need. There are high lel'els of ur￿MplOYment and
poor heajth in the area and the Charity gÉv¢s finamal Sup[￿ to projects which impact on these needs.

In meeting these objectives. the Charit). has conttnued to support the tharity's re8is(ered ]Knsioners and
their well-￿Ing. The Charity has also SUPPOrted a local community projecl {The Armada Community
Project) which is instrumental in supwjrting th¢ I￿al community and particularly those residents who
are disadvantaged by laek of opportunity.
In undertaking its artiwities, the Tn]stees have paid dlle regard to the Charitable Commission guidance
on public benefJU and are satisfied that the Chariry confets a public F￿nefit.
Contribthions are made by volunteers who art committed to the Charity's work with its pensioners attd
they bring their ￿MMI￿lent to the Charity. Their contribLAion has enabled the Charity to expand
work they do with PeT]SiOtKrs.

organisations other than the.4miada CoFrtTnunits. Projert who they supported throughout this period as it
was deemed io be of vital imwrtsn¢e to r¢wdents in financial need ¥n the area of benefit. In this }'ear the
Charity has also supported

parents who live in the area of benefil including Baby massage. Spanish School and a
Dorninican Dance that wLs perfornied ai IIKal e%'ents and the Lord IqayoL% Show.

to increase the awareness of the truA's achievements and local people look part in dEIivrTing
music. dance and other activities.

The Charity increased its expendiiwe grnnts 10 £36517 during 2023 (20?? _ £3,626) aThl hop¢ to
continue supporting the l(Kal community in 2024.
The Charity ha5 continued to make pa>ments to th¢ p￿S1OnerS at the increased weekly amount that was
a8reed in the [previous year. It also continued to 5UPP)rt pensioner's meals duringthe year. The Charity
was reliant upon volunteeT workers to ￿151 with this however other costs also increased 2s people weie
once again able to meet.
The Charity made a deficit forth2yearof£29,995 {?022 wrplusof£426.191). before tsking intO8ccount
any investment 1055e& After taking inlo accouni the M gains on the investmtnts the level of reserves
inGrea5ed to £4.001:507 (?0?2 - £3. 940.068). The financial position at the y¢arend is sound with a

£1,331.430).
The high cash balances are being retained as the Charity is still going forward with its plan io purchase

the coast.
Investment Polity and Risk MaJb¥gement
A few years ago. the trustees commissioned an Indep￿dent financia] adviser to prthltsce a statement of
investment principles for the Charity and subsequently moved the fitTr(ts ts) an endowment ponfolto and
an income reserve ￿rtfoliO manased b>. Brewin Dolphin Lid. This continued for ihe year endcd 3 1
Deccmber 20?3.
The trustets £t￿tinue to take professional advice fr(￿ their investment manager regarding the market
outltsoL inv¢stm¢nttr¢nds and yi¢ld 4nd th¢ prosp¢th for future cspital growth. The inNestrnent manager
is Instruct￿ to invest to rnaxÈmiseihe tota] re￿rn pmanenl endowment funds within the constraints
of a m¢dium to low-risk investm¢nt wrtfolio.
The trustees eonsider viability of investhient ￿tUrnS on the pennanenl endowment to ¢ollstituie the
chartry's major fLnancial risL This is mitigated by retaTning eXp￿t inVe5tsn￿t Thanager5 and having a
diversifjed investment portfolio.
The ¢hariti¢s Risk Management Poli¢ies were reviewed and agreed in January 2020. A review of intemal
finan¢ial controls was also undertaken at thi5 lime.
Reserves Policy
As the investment portfolio is the major sour¢e of fi]ndFng and the charity h&$ nts external fvnding. the
Charity's policy is tts mairttsin its resetves at 8 level that will enable it Io C￿[)17nuC to make grants to
projects ￿T￿ Indi￿￿U8]S in future ye8rs.

The Trusiee5 are supported by a cletk appoinied by (n￿te¢S who is responsible ftbr the day-to-day
administration of the Charity and its purtK>ses.

the Charity. These funds ar¢ unrestricted funds which are avaslabl¢ for use ai the di%retion of
the irustee5 the furtherdnce of the genernl objeclive5 of the Charity and which have not been
designated for (rther pwpxs.
UnrestriLted funds Include designated ￿[KiS where the tnIste￿ at iheir disc￿tion, have creaied
a fund for a specific purpose.
