Allerton United Reformed Church
Trustees Report for 2024
During the course of the year, no new members joined the church either by Profession of Faith or by Transfer from other churches and three members were removed from the roll by death or for different reasons. The number of names on the Roll of Members decreased to 59.
Pastoral care of church members was exercised informally by the Minister and individual members and formally by the Elders working through 7 Elder Districts. Pastoral care focused particularly on helping and encouraging the housebound, the sick, the bereaved and the troubled.
The congregation met weekly for the public worship of God in the United Reformed Church tradition on Sunday mornings.
The spiritual and social needs of children were addressed by Junior Worship, which met during Sunday morning worship. Children shared with the congregation in prayer and also met together to learn more about God and the moral responsibilities of living a Christian life in the church and the community.
The church sponsored several charitable causes, including the URC Commitment for Life Scheme in support of World Development and the Rotary Christmas Shoebox Appeal. The congregational Benevolent Fund made donations to several national and local causes, individuals, and churchsupported organisations, such as The Whitechapel Centre and The Brain Charity.
The children in Junior Worship raised money for Asylum Link.
The church is an accredited Fair-Trade Church and a Rocha-Bronze Award Eco-Church.
At the national level, the church supported URC's charitable projects through its monthly contributions to the Ministry and Mission Fund and donations to Christian Aid.
