Allerton United Reformed Church
Trustees Report for 2023
DLfring the course of the year, no new members joined the church either by Professional Faith or by
Transfer from other churches and 7 members were removed from the roll by death of for other
reasons. The number of names on the Roll of Members decreased to 62.
Pastoral care of church members was exercised informally by the Minister and individual members
and formally by the Elders working through 7 Elder Districts. Pastoral care focussed particularly on
helping and encouraging the housebound, the sick, the bereaved and the troubled.
The congregation met weekly for the public worship of God in the United Reformed Church tradition
on Sunday mornings.
The spiritual and social needs of children were addressed by JLtnior Worship which met dtjring
Sunday morning worship. Children shared with the congregation in worship and also met together to
learn more about God and the moral responsibilities of living a Christian life in the church and the
community.
The church sponsored several charitable causes including the URC Commitment for Life Scheme in
support of World Development and the Rotary Christmas Shoebox Appeal. The congregational
Benevolent Fund gave donations to several national and local causes, individuals and church-
supported organi5ations such a5 The Whitechapel Centre and The Brain Charity.
The children in Junior Worship raised money for Asylum Link.
The chtjrch is an accredited Fair-Trade Church and a Rocha-Bronze Award Eco-church.
At a national level, the church supported URC national and international charitable projects through
its monthly contributions to the MirTristry and Mission Fund and through donations to Christian Aid.
