The charity administers and funds the Percival J. Hay Memorial Prize which is awarded for a critical essay or paper in the field of ophthalmology, which may or may not have been published. The winner receives a certificate and a small sum of money. It also funds an annual memorial lecture in the field. Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic the charity has had no expenses since April 2020.
Objects: 1) For The Purpose Of Endowing A Prize To Be Given Periodically In Memory Of Percival John Hay, Deceased, Of The North Of England Opthalmological Society.2) If No Longer Expedient The Income Of The Trust Fund For Such Charitable Purposes For The Advancement Of Opthalmology.
