Constfituilon Ob'eets *nd Policies Thc objccts of Ihc Northallerton and the Dales Mencap Sociely, as outlined in the Trust Deed and in 115 ¢onstitution, are to provide SUPPOTI and facilities and to act as a voice for people with learning disabilities, their parents and carers within the forn]¢r Hambleton and Riclunondshire areas of Nortll Yorkshire. As previously reported, MTS Sue L£ar. in th¢ rol¢ of D¢v¢lopm¢nt MaJ]ager. Continues general oversight of th¢ G(K)secroft Centre to ensure that measures are in place to maintsin ILigh starLdards in relation to health and safety and safeguarding. Sue is also very kcen to promote the Society's objectives in support of people with Icarning disabilities, their famib.es and carers, to include the provision of informats.on and a li8tenin¥ w. Work in relation to hate crime awaTcness and community safety continues in liaison with thewlice and the SaferHaTllbleton group. Tru5tee5 are also aware that th¢ Society b¢n¢fits from the Colltinucd support of those who give their time voluntarily to covff cleaJ)ing and some maintenance work. Other administrative dutlcs, such as in relation to rinancial managemenL are also 8llPPOrt¢d by volunlary input. Joelle Mitchell, appointed as Assistanl D¢v¢lopmeni Manager in January 2022, has continued to make valuable contribution to the running of acti%ryties based at the Goosecroft Centre including the Monday Club. the Drop-in and the monthly Lunchable5 Club. Jn addition. Joelle maintains efferfive links through Faccbwk and the Northallerton Mencap website. Helen Orr also supports the activities that take place, both voluntsrily and as a paid a￿ls￿llt. Hclcn's Colltribution is very much appreciated. Trustees arc also grdtefiLI to Ruth Hawkes for rutming the very successful Tuesday art sessions at the Goosecroft Centre. (2)

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEYfEMBER 2024 cowfINuED At their regular commiltee meetings, Truslees have continued to consider option5 for the development and work of the Society. The focus is on providing day-time activities, lo include the Mondayclub, the Tuesday art classes, thc Wednesday Drop-in and the Goosecroft Pickers. Ail arc well attcndrd and very much app￿ciated by those who participate. A garden project was started this year in the area at the back of thc Ccntr¢ with rdised beds and inler¢sl in wildlife. The Goosecroft Pickers. monthly litter pick has two loyal participants. Andrea and Victori and is well supported by volunteers. Pe￿OnalISed Learning College students based at Northdale continue to do catering for the Drop-in Joe McKechnie. Hamblelon Disability Sports Officer, provides various sport activities every otherweek. In-hous¢ bingo and karnoke sessions, also included in thc Dropin programm¢, remain popular. The Monday Club is now well estsblished. Members produce their own meals and bcn¢fit fTh)m a range of visiting speakers. Fach month. members of the Monday Club, as well as anyone who is interesied, act as an Advisory Groupto discu&8 issues relating to M¢ncap and what lakes plac¢ atthe GoosecToft Ccntr¢. The comments and sugg¢stion8 of the Advisory Group ar¢ reported to Truslees. Community us¢ of the Centr¢ ¢ontinucs though this is1¢5S t]]an in pr¢Yious y¢ars. As a consequence, inwm¢ from lettings continues to be limited. Currently, the following organisations and clubs us¢ th¢ Centre on a regular b&4is'. Northallcrton WoodwiThd Enscmble, Hamblcton Amateur Radio Society. The MS Society and POSCH for parents of special needs children. Occasional use of the Centre is made by North Yorkshire Council, the local Conservative Group and Mencap Homcs. Privatc use of the Centre is very occasional. Six of the seyen garages continue to be rented out to loc￿ p￿p]e. Risk MAnA ement The Tn￿te¢S bave assessed the major risks lo which the Charity is expos&l in particular th08e related to the operations and finances of the Charity. and are satisfied that system5 and procedures are in place to mitigate our exposure lo the major risks. Revlew of Develo mellts and Aehlevement The s￿ietY held its AGM oll the IP June 2024 at the Centre. A general report was given relating to the Society's progress and actlvities. Fiftaneial details were allo outlined. The very generous bequasts received have placed the Socidy in a vcry sccurc posicion f￿anciallY. Thc dccisioD taken by Trustees in 2023 that membership would be free and open to all who receive support from the SLKiety or who are 8UPPOrtive of its WO￿ has been well received. Contact details are maintained in line with GDPR requirements. The AGM was well attendC￿ and ixneficiaries were proud lo present a poem they had written which spoke about the positive impact that the Goosecroft Centre has and how it is regarded as a good place to be by thosc wbo attend. Links with various I￿al OTganisatioJ)s supporting peopl¢ with learning disabilities. such as Northdale and Chop$ti¢ks. Continue. The Society also maintains its link with Royal Mencap and Inclusion North. The Society also responds lo specifi¢ weeks designatcd in rclation to Learning Disability or the campaign agaiDst Hale Crime. P￿sentstIOnS in Nortballerton Town Hall continue to be well attenda and supported locally. The l(Kal 'Treat Me Well, group continues to meet and bave contributed an article to th¢ Living Well Newsletter published by the NHS HLttrLber and North Yorkshire Health and C￿e Partnership. The article outlined the work of the group in prnmoting good health practice in support of people with disabilities. The issue of succession planning concerning the management of the Society and thc GooS￿rOfi Centre is on- going. However. the Society is well placed to conttnue ils support of people with learning disabilitie4 their families and ¢arers, well into the fiiture. (3)
