## **SHERWOOD AND WAUDBY CHARITY**

## **CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2022**

**My first year as Chairman has been very eventful.**

**We had 5 normal and 1 special meeting with the Trustees. The special meeting was regarding the garden behind the bus shelter**

**The Rev Dr Tim Kelly, Priest in Charge, became our ex officio Trustee in September. We welcome him and hope he enjoys his time with us.**

## **Completed projects:**

**We renovated No. 5 Sherwood Court after our longest serving tenant had to leave. We put in a new bathroom, upgraded the kitchen, put in new windows and decorated throughout.**

**The expenditure for the year for property repairs and improvements £21.442.96**

**All properties had their electrical and gas certificates renewed**

## **Grants were given to:**

|**Walkington school**|**505.00**|
|---|---|
|**Bowling Club**|**1,190.00**|
|**Scouts**|**1,150.00**|
|**Junior Badminton**|**250.00**|

**We also paid off £40.000 of our mortgage to the Charity Bank**

**Helen Coulson (Dunning) Memorial Trust has given six donations this current year to students Medical and Professions Allied to Medicine training**

**All properties are tenanted and well maintained and are in good order for the future.**

**2022 saw a number of projects still unresolved:**

**The sale of 1 acre of land at Walkington Heads in conjunction with 4 acres held by the Church. The sale failed to go through and is currently on the market. Unfortunately this is still on the market but we hope to see completion in 2023.**

**The land behind the Bus Shelter is ongoing. Action is still in progress. Unfortunately the property was going back on/off the market.**

**In November the Bowling Club raised the problem of a group of trees having ?? ash dieback. Unfortunately, this cannot be checked until June 2023 when the Ash Trees are in leaf.**

**It has transpired that the Parish Council has not had a formal lease for the land they rent to the Allotment Society. This is in hand and should be completed 2023.**

**The Charity looks forward to expedite any outstanding issues in 2023.**

**Kenneth N Hearne Chairman**

**6 July 2023**

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

**Independent examiner's statement** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or

- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
