SHERWOOD AND WAUDBY CHARITY
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2021
I became Chairman of the Charity in January 2022.
There were no face to face meetings during the early part of 2021 due to Covid. However, there was a meeting held on 23 November 2021. 2021 ended with a change of three Trustees: Mr George Southern had overseen the new build behind the pond and these are now occupied. As Chairman of the Charity, he had us play a major part in the refurbishment of the pond which is now thriving. Mr Southern had been a Trustee for 20 years and Chairman for the last 10 years. He will be remembered for all his sterling work and expertise on behalf of the Charity.
Mr David Drew a long term dedicated Trustee, a practical and knowledgeable member, after 30+ years, left the Charity. He also will be missed for his immense knowledge and understanding of the village and its people.
The Rev David Messer, our ex officio Trustee, has also left us, as he moved to a new Parish. His calming contributions will be hard to follow.
We now have two new Parish Council representatives, Mr C Howard and Mr N Waudby. The Rev T Kelly has just located to the Parish and is yet to attend his first meeting.
Completed projects:
New replacement windows were provided for 3 properties at a cost of £14,000
New French drain behind No 73 East End £6,600 All properties had their electrical certificates renewed £3,000 Mere Cottage new patio installed
Grants were given to:
Bowling Club £1,190.00 Scouts 750.00 School 800.00 Junior Badminton 160.00
Helen Coulson (Dunning) Memorial Trust has given ninety donations over the last 13 years for Medical and Professions Allied to Medicine training.
2021 saw a number of projects still unresolved:
The sale of 1 acre of land at Walkington Heads in conjunction with 4 acres held by the Church. Unfortunately, the sale failed to go through and is currently on the market.
The land behind the Bus Shelter is ongoing. Action is in progress.
The Charity looks forward to expedite any outstanding issues in 2022.
