Trustees Statement ROBERT TOWRIE CHARITY CONSTITUTION WITHIN THE PARISHES OF ALDBROUGH AND BURTON CONSTABLE, EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE

Purpose of the Robert Towrie Charity:

To support the residents of the parishes of Aldbrough and Burton Constable in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Support is given to support elderly, university students, school pupils and Aldbrough Primary School.

The rent gathered from the Towery Farm land, Towery Farm and 32 and 34 Church Street, Aldbrough, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, owned by the Robert Towrie Charity and interest from the money invested by the Trust shall be used to support residents of Aldbrough and Burton Constable parishes and to maintain and repair the properties the Trust owns.

Recipients of support will be subject to the following criteria:

The recipients of support must have been living in either parish for a period of not less than TWO YEARS continuously.
Support can be given in the form of the charity paying for services, items or facilities calculated by the Trustees of the Robert Towrie Charity to benefit residents of the above parishes or pupils attending Aldbrough Primary School. Support for hospital visiting, home care provision, food provision or fuel purchases could be some of the ways residents could be supported.
Recipients of direct support from the charity must not be Trustees of the Robert Towrie Charity.

Trustees

The Trustees shall comprise of eight competent members being: One member of the Aldbrough Parish Council One member or delegate of Burton Constable Parish Council One delegate from Aldbrough Primary School

Five other co-opted Trustees of whom at least one must be a resident of Burton Constable or West Newton Parish and at least two should have agricultural experience

East Trustee shall be appointed for a term of four years and must sign the minute book of the Robert Towrie Trust as a declaration of acceptance and willingness to act in the interests of the Trust. If a Trustee wishes to resign their Trusteeship, a signed letter of resignation must be received by the Trust’s clerk, to be read out at the next appropriate meeting. When a vacancy occurs, the Trust may appoint a suitable and competent person at their convenience, usually at the Annual General Meeting. Any Trustee may be re-appointed by the Trust at the end of their four year appointment and the chairman may also be re-appointed at the end of the year of office.
