The objecis of the charity are.. To provide almshouses for poor person5 of good character who are not les5 than 50 years of age and who have resided in the civil parishes of the Milnthorpe. Heversham and Beetham and the Borough of Kendal for i)ot less thatj two years. M8rrLed couples who are otherwise qualified a5 aforesaid shall be eligibl& for appointment provided that one of them is not less t]ian 50 years of age. The charity owns and lets 6 properties. The trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. Achievements and erformante The Charity's thr¢e Trustees have continued with the project of modemisaiion of tlie Alm5hous¢ Property of which has included rcpairs, adaptation and improvement to all the Cottages. as well as The Lodge. The Trustees have been committed to iinprovement for all tlie residents tsnd also have concern for the health and safety of all. The repair and maintenance of the driveway and improvements to parking have been completed. Therc was also increase in thc market value of the investrnents due to market conditions which meant that the market value of the investments at 31 December 2024, frorn £178.599 to £187,074. The ¢harity investrnents are primarily held to fvnd maintenance and repairs. Structure overnxnce and man emenl The charity is an unincorporaied Association with a constitution detem)ined by a Scherne of the Charity CommissiotJer5 date 15 November 1966. The properties are managed by Milnc Moscr who also keep the necessary accounts and attend generally to the affairs of the charily. The tNstees have iegular m¢¢tings with Milne Moser to ensure the prop¢r management of the charity. The tn15tee body consists of six competent persoi)s who rnay be appointed for a term or rive years by a resoluiion of the Trustee5 at a special meeting. The new trustee must then sign in the minute book of the Trustees a declaration of acceptance and of willingness to Act. There must be at l¢ast one general meeting per year. Special m¢ctings may be summoned at aDy time by the Chairnydll or any two trustees with four days noiice. New trnstees are briefed on the chariry and their role by the ¢xisting Trustees and Milne Moser and givei) a copy of the consiitution. Page 2
