**Objects:** (1) THE ADVANCEMENT FOR SOCIETY MEMBERS’ AND THE PUBLIC BENEFIT OF THE STUDY, APPRECIATION, AND ENJOYMENT OF NATURAL HISTORY, AND(2) THE PROMOTION OF CONSERVATION OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT IN THE COUNTY OF LANCASHIRE AND ELSEWHERE AS DEEMED APPROPRIATE BY THE COMMITTEE, BY:- PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS AND VISITORS TO MEET FOR NATURAL HISTORY PRESENTATIONS AND FOR THE INTERCHANGE OF IDEAS AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE;- PROMOTING PUBLIC DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION ON NATURAL HISTORY BY PUBLIC LECTURES, PUBLICATIONS, AND COOPERATION WITH OTHER BODIES;- PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS TO UNDERTAKE EXPERT-LED FIELD TRIPS OR WORKSHOPS IN THE COUNTY OF LANCASHIRE AND ITS ENVIRONS;- PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR LONGER NATURAL HISTORY EXCURSIONS IN THE UK OR BEYOND.NOTE: THE SOCIETY HAS A PARTICULAR INTEREST AND EXPERTISE IN ORNITHOLOGY.

**Activities:** Weekly winter lectures on natural history and bird-watching, workshops re education, information and local studies of natural history topics such as moth trapping, fungi and bat detection and field trips throughout the year.  Aim is to provide social, recreational and educational activities and liaison with groups local and national with similar interests to share information.
