Report- contlnued Objectives and Activities The primary purposes of the Charity are.. the purchase of bed linen and down pillows of the finest quality and their distribution to charitable organisalions which ¢are for the sick and infirm the provision of pensions and grants to persons employed by Sir Alec Black during his lifetime the benef￿t of sick, poor fishermen from the Borough of Grimsby The secondary purpose of the Charity is for the benefit of sick poor persons resident in the Borough of Grimsby_ The ulbmate purpose is for the benefit of sick poor persons resident anywhere in the Unrted Kingdom. The trustees confirm they have referred trj the guidance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when ￿VIewIng the charity's aims and objectives and in p5anning future activities. Achievements and Perfomiance During the year the Charity has met these purposes by.. providing bed linen lo 24 charitable organisations making grants to 53 sick poor individuals making grants to 4 organisalion to assist in supporting sick PLX)r individuals Flnanclal Review The trustees, policy on reserve5 IS to preserve capital by retaining and reinvesting the proceeds from any income producing assets and to distribute each year the balance ol income arising after provision for all known revenue expenses. The accounts for the year to 12 April 2024 have been prepared on the receipts and payments basis in accordance with relevant legislation and comprise a statement of assets and liabilities al that date together with a receipts and payments account for the year There is an excess of payments over rettipt$ for the year amounting to £{16,862.931 which has been deducted from the cash funds brought forward lo leave a balance of cash funds to carry forward at the year end of £78,173.74. RBC Brewin Dolphin manage the quoted investments on a discretionary basis and provide advice to the Iruslees. These investments have performed salisfaclorily in the year. Fees paid in the year for accountancy and administrative se1vi￿S to RNS Chartered Accountants, a firm of which S Wilson, one of the trustees, is an employee amounted to £12.500 plus VAT. I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145ISllbl of the Act.
