CARMARTHENSHIRE BLIND SOCIETY

(REGISTERED CHARITY NO:- 219551)

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES

AND

ENDING 31st MARCH 2025

The Trustees present this report with the financial statements of the charity consolidated for the year ended 31[st] March 2025

The Society serves the Blind and Visually Impaired & Partially Sighted persons throughout the County of Carmarthenshire in South West Wales, by providing annual gifts and considers requests for various aids and assistance.

On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Society, I have pleasure in presenting the 165th Annual Consolidated Report. May I place on record the Society’s most sincere thanks, appreciation and best wishes to everyone for the work they have done over many years and continue to do so on behalf of our Visually Impaired members.

May I thank all our Branch Secretaries & Treasurers for their tremendous support.

Sincere thanks to everyone on the Executive Committee for their continued support and also to the local Committees who do excellent work for the Blind Welfare within their respective Areas and also throughout the County.

Many thanks to you all.

Once again, I am pleased to report another successful year for our Society in general, with a total excess of income over expenditure of £5,834 being demonstrated for the year. The Society’s overall assets still remain very healthy which will hold us in good stead going forward when making distributions to our blind and partially sighted members.

As mentioned in previous years, some of our smaller branches are still finding it increasingly challenging, what with some of their elderly volunteers retiring early due to ill-health and the inability to find ready replacements.

Despite having these reduced numbers, however, I am still confident that our valuable work will continue.

All Branches continue to support our Visually Impaired members with their respective Christmas Gifts which are contributed throughout the year. It is evident that many of our Branches have increased the monetary amounts of these gifts and every effort will be made going forward, to consider further increases as appropriate.

This will indeed prove very important going forward, especially when we consider the present challenging financial restraints that we are all experiencing.

It was also pleasing to note that many of our Branches continue to receive support by way of collection boxes in local shops, churches/chapels and rugby clubs.

Unfortunately over the last year, it has been increasingly difficult to keep our Llanelli Centre open on a regular basis. This position is presently being monitored and consideration is being made for the possible sale of the building.

In summary, therefore, it has been a very productive and enjoyable year once again and I have great pleasure in presenting this report to you.
