JSC ANNUAL REPORT 2022 2023

| am pleased to present my annual report of the John Smith's Charity for the 2022-2023 year. The trustees have met 4 times.

Park Farm. We continue to enjoy a good relationship with our tenant Colin Miles and his son Will. There have been no issues raised in the year. The trustees made a very enjoyable visit to the farm.

Forestry. We continue to enjoy an excellent working relationship with our forestry contractor Nick Jones. His work looking after the newly planted areas ot woodland is bearing fruit.

Almshouses. We have continued with the modernisation and redecoration of the almshouses and the replacement of the guttering around the courtyard. Work will commence soon to replace part of the collapsed wall at the end of our plot with an access gate. We are grateful to Peterchurch Parish Council for giving us a sympathetic hearing on this issue.

Residents. We have struggled to find tenants for our 2 empty houses but in the last few weeks we have found tenants and in the near future we hope to have full occupancy.

Administration. The trustees have continued to support the charity admirably in the last 12 months and I thank them all for this. The work of our clerk, Caroline Kinkead-Weekes, continues in the face of serious difficulties in persuading anyone to give us the priority we require to get things done. | know that she has worked incredibly hard on our behalf and I wish to pay tribute to her for her diligence and above all her patience. So much of what she does is incredibly time consuming and we are very fortunate to have her on board. I will be standing down as chairman and as a trustee at the AGM in March 2023. Tam truly sorry but I am simply not able to continue. I am grateful for the support | have received during my time in office and I will continue to help the charity as much as I can.

The Charity Commission The Charity Commission have very kindly offered to re-write our governing document by issuing us a scheme for our future use. We have madea start but there is still plenty to do. I am happy to help as | am able and | apologise in advance ifthat help becomes limited.
