Annual Re ort for Baron Smith's Chari 2025 Annual Report- 2025 Throughout 2025, all 16 cottages were occupied for the full twelve months, except for one. which was unoccupied for two weeks to accommodate a resident changeover. This occurred when one resident leftThe Square to tske up a Warden Residencywith the NHS. Following a brief period of refurbishment, a new resident moved in and is settling in well. All cottages are actively contributingto ongoing maintenanc January 2025 A new Clerk, Ann Hayton. was appointed and began workingfor the charity in January, with the intention of takingon full responsibilities in March. The previous Clerk. Mrs. S. Tallis, continues her excellent work byjoiningthe Board of Trustees. Mrs. Tallis has been a valued member of the charity for many years and is well-liked and respected. not only in the village itself but also among the residents, having built up a strong working relationship. February 2025 One resident left to accept a Warden residency with the NHS closer to where she used to work. She expressed her gratitude for the past fouryears and will be missed by all. March 2025 Our Warden continues to do a wonderfuljob looking afterthe residents and keepingthe gardens immaculate, which are enjoyed by both residents and visitors. The Chapel is cleaned and maintained collaboratively by the Warden and residents. This year. the chapel pews were renovated and waxed, carpets and rugs were cleaned, and beautrful flower arrangements were contributed and displayed. The Chapel is open dailyfor all to enjoy. Ann, the new Clerk, held a small gathering in the Chapel to introduce herself to the residents. She reports that all residents are happy with their homes and have no concerns aboutthe properties. The AGM is scheduled for March 25th. April 2025 Maintenance work is ongoingto keep the buildings in good repair. Significant
projects have included lining a section of the mains drain and replacing 16 Crittall windows. with this work continuing. Regular safety and fire inspections are carried out to help Trustees identify areas needing attention. On April 1 st, Mr. Ronald Hawkins took up residence in the vacant cottage at No. 11. He spent his first month redecorating before moving in permanently and has already contributed to the gardens by supplying turf for repairing damaged grass. December 2025 The resident in No. 1 will be vacating at the end of December, and the resident at No. 12 will leave in February 2026. Interviews for new residents wiu be held in the new year.
