k)spilal Charities CIO. This mgrger has been suwssful from both sldes 8nd f88llrvJ that wa have been able to
enhance th8 INes ol the Trinity reskjents.
We are slill 18ellng the knock on effect of Covld and there Is no doubt that the lockdown has Impacted on I￿•S
of thè elderly and we have certalnly seen an increase in the numbers ol deaths th1$ year.
Of counse, partofthis inctease can be attr*)uted to the elderty remalnlng longer in theirown homeswhKh m8ans
that by the tlme they become resldents they a￿ oftèn 8lr8ady dlsplaylng slgns of age related afflictlons. The
result of this Is that we arn he￿n9 to provld8 additional support, through our Waidens. to thosg INing
Indfrpendenlty and th9 need for addfillongl facilities such as mbility bu99y storage and chargin9.

2. FOUNDATION AND SCHEME
Wyggeston'$ Hosptsl Charity wa$ founded following tho grant ol Royal Lgttors Patent to William Wyggeslon In
1513. The Scheme ot the Charity Commissioners goveming the Charity was revised in 1992 and 2012 and the
present Schem8 Is datÈd 7 Fèbruary 2012. Th* Charty's r8gistratk*n numbèr Is 216873. The official name of th8
Charty was Hospltsl of Wllllam Wyggeston and the Hospital Branch. On 31 March 2023 the Charity merggd with
the Trinity Hospital Ch8rSties CIO and the Charity Commisslon approved tho r8namlng to Wyggestons and Trin
Almshouses Charity.
The Trinity Hospital Charitie5 W85 Driginally founded by Henry Pldntagenel, 3rd Earf ol Lanoaster and Leicester
a5 an AJtn$hws& I hospital beside Loicesler Castle in 1331 and is one ol Ihe oldest Charit￿$ still in exi%tsrs¢0 in
the city. It was a registered Mmshou$e Ch8rity adrninistered by Trustees under the tem)s ol a Charty
Cotnmisswjn Schema dated 20 November 1969.
The Trinity Hospital Charities CIO w8$ 8 ragistered Charlty govemed by the deed of Incorporallon accepted by
thè Charitios Commission and was registered on 15 June 2018.
On 1 January 2019, thè ass8ts. Ilabllltl8s. and operations of The Trinity Hospital Charit￿5 ICh8rity No. 2290851
were trar￿ferred to The Trinity Hospital CharilYd¥ CIO (Charity No. 11788071 In aceordanee wlth the rU￿S and
guidaneè as laid out by th& Charity Commission. All necessary declarations and consultations w80 made
regarillng the transfer ol restricted and endowmgnl funds.
3. CORPORATE TRUSTEE
On 26 July 2011 a Company Limited by guarantee was established enlrtled The Wyggeston's Hospital and
HosFytal Branth Trustee Company numb8r 07718817. Ot) 7 Fèbruxry 2012 this company became the sole
Trusl88 of Iha Charity. The previous Trustees ol thè Charity becoming the Dlr8Ctors of the ¢ornp8Thy. With the
mèrger of the Charity on 31 March 2023 with Trinty Hospital Charities CIO the name of th• Corporate Twstèè
that holds the real estatg property ol the Charlty was amend￿ to reflect the newly merged Charity. All sales or
p￿rchaseS of land are carr￿1 out in the narne of the CorpA)rate Truste8.

housiThJ tnaintenarKe, they are with lik￿rnin￿ed and similar aged people 8nd enjoy the $e¢urity of someone on
call should they suffer an emergency.
In addith)n, we have Chapels on site and can offer $piritual and pastoral support as needed through the
Mast8r & Chaplain, ordain8d Anglican Pri8Sts. As p80p18 ag8 and th*ir needs inc¥ease they can, subject to
assossment, transfer to Agnes House, our Residentkal Home. which is on Ihe same 8it8. The proxlmlty of the
buildings has Ihe added advantage that fellow residentswho have become friends over the y8ars can visit easily
and malntaln contacL Famlllès also appr8clatè that whèn thg limg comas for the &xtra level ol care the parent or
ved one is already known to the staff and this reduces the stress ol moving. In bolh units there 1$ a d8gr88 of
subs￿Y. Tha Twsteas, Pollcy 1$ tt)8t thè we6￿Y charges in the Ajmshouses and Agnes House will be below that

We monitor our performance by carrying out an Annual Re5idenls' Survey. We are also regu181ed by exlemal
bodi85, th8 C8r8 Qu81ity cornmr5si(￿ ICQCI and lh8 L$icest8r City Counc¥l.
Fin8n¢ially we are stron9 Wlth m8ny OppOrtun￿e8 in the ye8rs ahead to incr8ase our work 8nd currenlly Ihere L%
no reason why Wygge5tons & Trinity should not continu8 for a furlher 500 years. Details of how the Trustees

All payments are authrKis8d by Iwo Trust8es and 811 payments are r8POrt8d tothe Finance and Grznts Commilteo
at the next round of meeting5. Limts are plac6d on the amounts that can be authorlsed beforo rèfgrring to the
Trustees. Budgets are approved althe autumn round of meetings the followin9 yea¥ and anyvariances greater
than 20D/o ate invesligated and explanèlions provided. Each commtitee receives budget to &bJal reports at Ms
meetings and all Trustees ￿e1ve financial information on a monthly ba$i$.
9. RISK MANAGEMENT
The Trusté8s havè èxamined Ihè major str8t8gic businass and operatiornal risks whlch tha Charity lac8s aThJ
confimi that systems are in place to ensure regular reports are produ¢8d so that the necessary $1gps can b8
taken to lessen tr858 risks ￿￿th a formalised nsk r8giStèr rèvièwèd annually by th8 Trust869. This has bson
amended to inchjde new risks that occurred due to the hlgher rates of Inflatlon experlenced impacting on
operabonal costs factors whth have led to increased risks for the Charity.

Going Concern
The 2024 budgets and fore¢8Sts have been drawn up and arnended wth con5idgration forthe c(mtinuing impart
of èxtemal economic factors along with our ongoing planned capltal projects. The bud￿tS and forecasts arè
supported by 8 monlhly reviewed cashfknv analysis that is managed by the Tru$lges and 8gnior stsff. The income
bèlng dèrfvad from the recant expanslon of tha Amshouses provlslon coupled wlth 8xcal&nt occupancy rates
and diversrfKation of Ihe Estate port[￿K• PTo¥ides the Trustees with the confidence of the financial health ol the
Charlty-

planning is sufficient to ensure the ability of the Charity to continue as a going concem for 12 months from the

Charilies CIO was a registered Chartty govemed by the deed ol incorporatKJn xcepted by th¢ Charft
Ctsmrntssvjn and was reglstered on 15 June 2018.

The partnership agreemenis enabled the formation of a nèw Board from Wyggeslons exists'ng TnJsi88s and
retent￿n ofthg Chaplaln as exthio Board member to Improve the efficiency ol the Chaflty ¢p?r8tions and
Safeguard the fLrture ol its services.
Th8 n8w Board ol Trustees managed Ihe Charity dunno the pracèss of thè mèwr Includlng undertaking a lull
cOnsultat￿Tr of tho 8takgholders and obtained consant from the Charlty Commlssion and the Duchy of Lan¢aslor
for the proposal.
The objects of the ngw Ch8rty reflectsd that of Ihe Imo Charthes as there was conslderabb ¢ommonalty In ￿e
Orfglnal foundations.
Both Boards w¥r& kegn to ensure that there was no change in tho op?rathonal ￿r¥It¢S w• provKle to our
beneficiarEs and that by coming together we can both strengthen 8nd expand se￿1￿$ to older people in
