There are slill ten Tesidences in the original 16 century building l>ui the qualifications for occupancy have been amended. The Charity's governing document now requires that almspeople be poor persons of a good character. Originally administered by two wardens of the parish Church, the charity is now under the care of eight voluntCCT Tn￿le¢S and a Clerk. The current governing docurnent is a scheme of the Charity Commissioners of 22 Dccember 1954 and a Confinnation A¢t of 28 Match 1956 as amended by schemes of I l January 1972 ¥nd 2 December 1977. The scheme was also amcnded on the 4 June 2024 to add the rolc of honorary patron. and to increasc the number of ¢o-OPtative iTUStees from thr¢c to four. With a view to the new occupant tsking up residency during the next few weeks.

Brad Steele. a Master Sionemason. (x)nductcd the annual repairs to the stonework on the Almshow outbuildings. This included repairs and rew)inling to the brickwork and guttering of the outbuilding black woodwoTK along with the removal of foliage and m055 from amund both the outbuildings and main Almshouse. In addition. several of the internal porches required repainting in the aTW adjacent to the main front doors. Brad also conducted remedial work at No4. ¢aus¢d by water ingr¢ss down the chimncy, due to the chimney cap coming off. resulting in the f￿eplace rA)ver needing replacing and a new air vcnt fitted io help with ventilalion. The bedmom Dormer wndows at No4 and No5 alyj needed repair and assislance was sought from Robert Paddock at The Art of Glass, who S￿lalIStS in the restoration and repairs of leaded windows. and he carried out the repairs both for us, along with Richard Ripp)n from Elitc Windows, who repaired the woodcn window frame ai No4. The ongoing issues with damp are ixin8 c105cly rnonitored and have I￿gelY been brou8ht undercontrol, however, it is now thou￿ io N)ssibly be risin8 damp from under the hearts or water retention from the outsidc, via the sandstones aniyor mortar which is causing the waler ingress to several of the proF¢rtie5. This is being kept under consthnt surveillance by the Clerk and further investl8ation is to be8in in the New Year. Due lo the age and condition of some whitr go(Mts at the Almhouse. two new cook¢rs w¢rc purchased for No4 and Nolo, and new wdshing maLhines for No4 and No5. Urgent electrical n)aint¢nancc vrns conducted as and when require<L along with the annual PATtesting of all residents. and charity owned ¢lectricaJ appliances. In addilion, three PIR lights were r¢placed on the outbuildin8. The five-year fixed wiring condition inspection took place in January 2025. Garden maintenancc has included regular lawn mowing, hedge trimming and the pn￿Ing of the apple ttecs and bush4 in addition to moss and weed spraying. Plumbing tnaint¢nance repairs were COnd￿ted &8 and when requireiL including repairs to taps. plug4 waste pl￿ and a toilet Edl valve.

January 2024 to: The Shakespeare Hospice Myton Hospices Feed the Hungry UK Canrxr Research UK The Trust also made charitable donations lo support Deedy people living in the Ancient Parish of Stoncleigb through th¢ Coventy Children's Boot. The Coventry Children's Boot Fund started in J 893 with the object of providing boots to children in wverty so thai they could attend school. The fund has served Coventy's ￿OreSt children through two world wars, the depression of the 30's and the ups and downs of thc 2￿ century. Even today, many children attend school wearing worn out leaking shoes in winter. because their parents &qnnot afford to repla￿ them, which makes you realis¢ that the Boot Fund is as relevant today as it was over a hundred years ago. The Coventry Children's Boot Fund received a total of £6,(MX) in donations from the charity in 2024.
