## **Chairman’s Report for Year Ending 31st March 2022**
## **Overview**
From a very quiet year last year to an extremely busy one with a flood of bookings owing to the temporary closure of Great Glen Village Hall. Refurbishment work progressed during the year and the Hall is looking very good.
## **Finance**
Full details are in the Treasurer’s report below. Reserves as at 31st March 2022 stand at £21601 compared to £27669.54 last year. The annual deficit was £6068. Refurbishment costs were almost £29000 so to finish only £6000 down was quite an achievement. Grants totalling £18000 helped this.
Sundry Lettings came back strongly at £8500, over twice our normal figure. The 100 Club continues to raise £1200 pa and this year the Harborough Lottery contribution amounted to £485 v £269 last year without impacting on the 100 Club. Amazon Smile realised £14.16 against £6.50 last year. We could do better with this!
Once again we lost £2000 owing to the cancellation of the Christmas Tree Festival but all being well this will be taking place in 2022.
A financial report is required to be forwarded to the Charities Commission.
## **Review of the Year**
Busy with bookings, particularly through Great Glen U3a, who have the hall regularly throughout the week for their various clubs. This should continue for the rest of the year as Great Glen Village Hall is being refurbished this year. They will spend over £1500 in the full year.
The second element of the roof repairs was completed this year.
The ladies toilets have been successfully refurbished and a new floor is to be laid in the gents toilets.
## **Events**
I am proud of the contribution to village life which the Hall provides and continue to be amazed at the enthusiasm shown by the Committee and their helpers to organise events.
## **Officers of the Committee**
Katrina Inchley and Lilian Bent have developed a smooth booking and treasurer operation but unfortunately Lilian is finding that other commitments prevent her from continuing in that role and we are now seeking help for this important role.
The team continues to work very well together with the responsibilities of the Hall and we have welcomed three new members this year. Natasha Davies, Sarah topping and Arienne Vaughan. Sarah Cripps and Kate Goddard have left the village and resigned from the Committee.
We continue to seek more volunteers to become involved with these activities.
As always I pass on my sincere thanks to everyone involved with the Hall. Volunteer fatigue can be an issue but it is the sense of joint responsibility which drives us forward.
## **Conclusion**
A continuation of work on the fabric of the building has meant that we now have an asset to be proud of and continue to play a significant role in the preservation of the spirit of life in our village.
