## **Secretary’s Report for Year ending 2022.** 

## **Aims & Objectives: -** 

To promote & assist the general good of all old people by assisting & providing facilities for physical & mental recreation. Developing physical improvement, furthering health, relieving poverty, distress or sickness & pursuing any objects which now or hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable.

**OAP Welfare Committee Activities** 

The Committee continue to arrange social functions to the benefit of all over 60, resident in the village of Trelewis. They sell raffle tickets on a regular monthly basis with the help of extra volunteer ticket sellers. This enables them to keep in contact with those of the village who celebrate special Birthdays & Anniversaries & who then receive a monitory gift. Those who are housebound together with residents of Glynbargoed Nursing Home also receive a Christmas gift. These gifts together with Coach Outings are partially funded by proceeds from the monthly raffle. A weekly Social Evening is provided for the over 60s of the village with friends on a Wednesday Evening in the Trelewis OAP Hall. They also arrange Short Break Holidays with Gibbons Coaches Bedlinog 

**Activities 2022** 

Committee meetings were resumed, the first being held on Wednesday 4[th] May with arrangements made to book day trips & holidays following the Covid Guidelines. The Weekly Social Evening was re-opened for the summer months but closed at the end of December due to falling numbers. 

As restrictions had been gradually lifted toward the end of 2021, day trips were arranged for Weston Super Mare on Saturday June 25[th] & a Christmas Shopping Trip to Swansea on Saturday 26[th] November. A Five Day Holiday was also booked to The Berkley Hotel in Weymouth on Monday 24[th] Oct–Friday 28[th] October. 

Christmas gifts of Boxes of Biscuits were taken out to those housebound residents of Trelewis over the age of 60 with residents of Glynbargoed Nursing Home receiving individual Gift Bags. 



The Committee members & Ticket Sellers are to be congratulated on keeping the Welfare going during such a difficult time.
