The Charty is regulated by a Scheme ol the Charity Commissioners dated 13 March 1913. as arnended by a subsequent schernt
dated 28 January 2008 with the registraU'on number 215087. On 28 January 2008, by wrtue of a Charty Commission scheme, the
nèt assets of Bèthnal Green Philanthropic Pension Society (Charity Registration No. 2769451 wère merged wth those of the
cnanty

number 48622311, which was incorporated on 11 August 2003, was linked with the charity under Section 96151 of the charits.ts Act
1993. Th8 company will remain separate and legally distinct but is registered wth tha Charty Commission under the same charity
registration number The company acts a5 COtpor2t8 trustee also owns and manages the Almshousès. Day-today
management ol the almshouses was transferred to The Trust Partnership in October 2020, having p￿mOUs1Y been managed by

The major risks to which the Charity is exposed. as identified by the trustees, have been reviewed and Systems have been
establisherl to rnitigate those risks. Extemal ￿Sk$ to thg principal income ol the Charity are minimised by sprè8ding the
investments of tha Charity. Internal risks are minimised by thè implèmantation of authorisation procedures lor all Projects and
areas ol expenditure Management Accounts are reviewed at every meeting to ensu￿ the Charity is finanaalty stable. The Risk

OBJECTS AND ACTIVITIES

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The Charty onginally had Almshouses in Bethnal G￿en which destioyéd by enemy acbon during the coursg 01 thè Sècond
World War. Trustses hoped to build new Almshou3es in Bethnal G￿en to ￿p1a￿ the ones lost and while they pursued various
development projects, unfortunatèly it was ntst Possible to achieve this airn. Pla￿n9 looked at 3 sites outsidè Of Bethnal Green the
Company purch85ed 6 bungalows on a new developrnent in Gl8Cton on Sea, Essex in Septemberloctober 2010 and de51gnaled

these as their new Almshouses.
Thè Almshouses were purchased by means ofa transf8r ol fund5 from the Parmiterfs Almshousè & Ponsion Charity. The Trust
Partnership now manages all aspects of repairs and m8intenance. including the relevant health aThJ safety checks and overseeing
the welfar8 of th8 residants. The TIu5te8S CtsntlllU8 to r8gularly revièw their financial posity'on and in party'cular their invostments
They havè invesbgaled opportunrties for the purchase of some additional Amshouse5, and con51d8red a partnership wth another
81mshouse chanty. but they have not yet found a suitable opts'on. They have currenuy decided to pause acquiring additional
almshouses due to a concern about the affordability ol rising costs for maintaining and managing property., to rneet health and
safety regubb'ons and their impact on the work the Chanty doe5 to support Pensioners in Bethnal Green and to tathle sooal
isolation.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic. the Trustees have re-commen1￿ 30ry81 events for the pensioner benelKiaries in Bethnal
Green and the annual visit lo the almshouse residents. Thè trustees have contsnued to consider appropriate measures to protect
the pensioners attending events from Cowd The Iwice-yeady pension payments have continued to be distributed. Pensioners
unable lo attend events re￿1ve a hamper ather at Christmas or Eid. The trustees keep the number of pansioners on the roll under
rogular rewew and they are currently recruiting rn0￿ pensioners as nurnbais ha￿ raduced. The advertisement has been
circulated to a broad range of organisations and through Social m8dia to ensure all the communities in their area olbenefit a
aware ol the Gharity and have thè opportunity tts make an application.
Durfng the course of the year the Charity has set up an Extraordinary Repair5 Fund in ordèr to plan for expenditure on component
replacements at the almshouses, eg boilers and window frarnes. Poli&es have baen re￿￿ed and updated according to the
ptannèd policy review schedule and plans are in place to review the Business Plgn.

The majority of the free reserve$ are represented by assets hekl on investsnent. These provide the income necessary for th¢

Inveglment pollcy
A major part ollhè Charity's rasarves are Invested. The trustees, investment policy is to ma1ntain a balanced portfolio be￿een
incom8 and capital growth. The funds are invested in the Charinco aNd Charishare funds operated by BlackRock Investrnent
Management Ltd and in COIF Charities Property funds operated by CCLA. auarterly valuations of these investments are provM*ed
by 81ackRock. The trustees Also invested In an Awva bond and recentty inv95t8d th8 profit from that bond into another product
with AJ Bell., The performan￿ of all their inveslrnents are rèvièw&J at èvery Trustee meeting The Truste8s have a written
Investments R&5erve5 Policy which is r8M8wed annually.
PUBLIC BENeFIT
As 5tat8d abov6, the truste8s' main objectives are the provision of ￿Mshouse accommodation, the prowsion of pensions and
social events to tackle social isolation. These objectives sèrve the public benefit by the provision of low ¢05t Almshouse
accommodation, prowsion ol pension3 that are paid tw￿re a year an¢J at least four annual social events. which as many low inecdne
elderly people in Bethnal Green can b8nefit from as circumstances allow.
