The Trustees confirm that the Annual Report and Financial Statements of ihe Charity comply ivith current statutory requirements of the Charity's governing document and the provisions ofihe Sialement of Recomrnended Practice (SORP) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities, i55ued in March 2005. Charitable Ob ects The objects of the Charily are the provision ofAlmshouses for needy persons of not less than 60 years of agJe ivho (except in special circumstances lo be approved by the Charity Commissioners) are inhabilanls of the former Parish of Walmer and those parts ofthe Parishes of Ripple and Ringwould ivhich lie iviihin the Ecclesiastical Parish of Walmer. ointnicnt of Trustees There shall nornially be five Trustees. one of ivhom shall be the vicar of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Walmer. Tivo Irustees shall be residents An the area of Ihe fonner Parish of Walmer and are appointed by the Charter Trustees of the loivn of Deal, the appointment being for five years. Two fiirther Trustees shall be co-opted through residence, occupation. employment, or otherwise and have a Special knoivledge of the objects of ihe charity. Anisational Structure of the Chari The clerk is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Charity and reports lo the Trustees on a regiilar basis. The Trustees Tneel as required to ensure that the Charity is properly administered and to make policy decisions.
Risks The assets of the Charity being Almshouses. the only risks likely to be incurred by the Charity are those relating lo buildings and to their occupants. The buildings are covered by insurance and all ivan15 of repairs are reported by the occupants to the Charity. Repairs are not carried out by the OCCLipanls themselves. Revieiv of the Chari The Charity provides SAX Almshou5e5 on one site in the parish of Walmer, Kent and during the year has continued to meet its obligations in this regard. This year the demise of our eldest and longest occupant provided an opportunily for tivo of the oihers to relocate ivithin the site. A deep Clean of all of the properties involved in the rearrangements ivas carried out. A neiv beneficiary vas identified for the empty property. The usual annual rouline maintenance of the properties has also been carried out. The g2rden and fences have been ivell maintained and the over-vigorous growth of some of the shrubs has been attended to. In the large, shared rear garden ea¢li beneficiary has now been provided with a small shed and a rotary ivashing line. A social afternoon iviih music and a French ihemed lea and Olympic quiz was held in the summer. A card and small gift ivas delivered to each Almshouse during the Christmas week. Financial Review The Charity has a total a net surplus deficit for the year of £5.036.73 ofivhich relates to ihe Unrestricted funds and a net surplus of £15.786.93 ivhich relates to Restricted fuT]ds. Reserves The reserves of the Charity are maintained at a level that tlie Trustees consider ivill ineet future maintenance c05ts, Ivhether planned or nol. They are iised as and ivhen necessary to repair and improve ils buildings. During ihe year the Charity continued to maintain payinents to its Restricted and Designated funds.
Internal Financial Control All financial matters are dealt ivith through the elerk's independent Olce and the clerk is responsible for the same to the Trustees. There are no serious incidents that need to be rewrted to the Charity Commission. Plany for Future Periods To mark the beginning of a Neiv Year. arrangements are ivell in hand for another social evenl.
