Upton St Leonards Village Hall
Annual Report for the period 1st February 2025 to 31st January 2026
Upton St. Leonards Village Hall is sited at Bondend Road, Upton St. Leonards adjacent to the Birchall Memorial Ins�tute and is a central feature of the village. The hall was founded a�er WW1 as a gi� to the village by the Birchall family, which then resided at Bowden Hall, in memory of the family members who died in the conflict. It is an unincorporated charity registered with the Charity Commission (No 214415)

Upton St Leonards Village Hall con�nues to thrive and provide an avenue for the Community to use for various events, nearly all of the hall’s regular users are s�ll regularly using the Hall., in fact in the upcoming year the Upton Playgroup will celebrate their 60[th] anniversary. Quite a feat given our changing �mes. They also decided this year that they would like to spend some money they had by way of grants etc to upgrade the pa�o and canopy, these had originally been installed by them some �me ago. This work was carried out in January and has with the addi�on of new ligh�ng really enhanced the area, so thanks must go to the Playgroup. The young people’s groups are all thriving and now range from Squirrels to Adventure Scouts. At the �me of wri�ng there is a possibility that the Girl Guide unit will start up again.
Drama con�nues to provide the local folk with good entertainment and art and sewing classes provide training in skills, whilst yoga and Pilates keep’s people fit.
Of course we must not forget the casual users for par�es, weddings and many other various needs.

cost of the alarm system, to the extent that, in spite, of the increase costs and the capital outlay the Trust showed a small excess over income of some £2800. The Bond investment provided the Trust with £4800 of income, the Bond has been re-invested although this year the sort of interest offer was not there, so it was invested in a 95- day access account which should provide a good income for the coming year. During the year we also welcomed Mathew Pearse into the fold of Trustees as a Co-opted member to be

AUDITOR’S REPORT FOR THE
YEAR ENDED 31.01.2026
I have examined the Village Hall’s accounting records and consider them to be adequate for the purpose of accurately recording the financial transactions throughout the year under review.
I have also examined the records and supporting documents, vouchers and invoices provided and can confirm that, in my view, the accounts they have prepared represent a true and fair view of the Village Hall’s financial activities during the year and the state of its financial affairs as at 31[st] January 2026.
