leased from the Trust.
The larger part of the Tmsl's land is the 1400
acres of Kenfi9 Burrows, which is a National
Nature Reserve and a Sile of Special Scienlific
Interest. This was formerly leased lo Bridgend
County Borough Council, bul has reverted lo the
TNsl's control. In ord8r lo b8 able lo carry out
the slalulory requiiemenls involved in managing
a Nature Reserve ol Irilernalional importance,
the Trust has signed a Managemenl Agreemènt
with Natural Resouices Wa18s INRW), who will
manage the land lor ils wildlife and conservation
features.
The Trust retains overall control of the lanil, and
of the Reserve Centre building.

Policy on grant making
The charity invites applications for funding from
local organisalions includin9 schools, churches,
youth. sporting and other worthy bodies Ihrough
adverlising in the local press, and on Social
Media usually on a twice-yearly basis. Applicants
mu51 disclose the purpose ol Iheir claim. details
of other sources of lunding, if any. and provide a
lull estimate of the proposed work or reason lor
the fijnding applied for. Applicants musl be
based within the Trust's Area of Benefil and no
applications can be considered from individuals.
During Ihe current year, no applications lor grant
funding were received.

Ihè Trust is grateful to the contribution made by
volunteers within the Kenlig National Nature
Reserve. Two 9roups olvolunl88rs me8lweekly,
one group carrying out practical conservation
work, and the other, monitoring wildlife species.
There is also a bird ringing group which meets
regularfy.

A number of walks and events promoling the
wildlife of the Reserve took place.
The Reserve Centr8 was increasirlgly used as a
Community Hub. with a va¥iely of classes and
meetings taking place, bringing in further funding
to help mainlain the building. A local Portrait
Photography business was established in a
room in the Cenlre.
Solar panels were filled lo Ihe Yoof of the Cenlie,
greatly reducing the &leclricily bill for the TfUSI,
and also Our carf)on foolprinl.
Repairs lo part of the Prince of Wales public
house were undertak8n as part oflhe Tru81's role
as freeholder. and minor changes lo olhei Trust
properties including Pyle and K8nfig Goll
Covise, were agreed.
