Bampton United Charities Trustees’ Report for 2024-25

Register Charity Number 213863

Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of the charity is to provide small grants to the residents of Bampton, Peon and Shillingford in cases of difficulty or unexpected financial need.

Activities

Only two grants were made 2024-25. This is disappoinng as the Trustees feel that in the current economic climate there is far more need for financial assistance in the Bampton area to help with the purchase of essenal ‘white goods’ and alleviate fuel poverty. However, the grants which were made were for larger amounts than usual, which alleviated two very difficult situaons. The Trustees have unl now had a system of limited adversing supplemented by working with a number of local people and organisaons who have idenfied potenal applicants and encouraged them to apply for a grant. However much of this contact was lessened following the loss of two Trustees and the longterm hospital treatment of another. We are now in a posion to resume these contacts, which will be supplemented by updated posters and addional adversing in our community magazine.

received permission last year to use the working name of “Bampton Lifeline.”

Trustees

Church, Bampton. Aer a year’s vacancy a new Rector has been licenced. During the year one Trustee died. She was a nominee of Bampton Town Council, and a replacement will be sought. Consideraon will be given to increasing the number of Trustees if this is permissible.

Income

The major source of income is the interest on CCLA investments with the occasional donaon from local organisaons such as the Rotary Club and Town Council. The charity does not undertake any fundraising acvies.

The charity was fortunate in having a substanal bequest of £50,000 which was invested in CCLA income units which will bring in sufficient income to fund two typical grants.

Summary

The Trustees hope that by making the changes outlined above the charity will be revitalised and be in a beer posion to fulfil its objecves.
