Annual Report of Reepham Church Charities

Year ending 31[st] December 2024

(Group Charity number 213557)

Trustees: Revd. Helen Rengert Susan Cripps (Churchwarden) - to 30 May 2024 Josphine Tym (Churchwarden) – to 30 May 2024 Rosie Foottit (Churchwarden) – from 30 May 2024

Town Lands & Neale’s Charity (Charity number 213557-1) Objects: For the relief of the poor in the Parish of Reepham

During the course of the year, the Trustees of Town Lands and Neale’s Charity held discussions with the Trustees of the Thomas Bulwer Charity (registered no 244282) as both had similar objectives, namely the relief of the poor in Reepham, Hackford and Whitwell. Following advice from the Diocesan Registrar, it was agreed that the Thomas Bulwer Charity should close and its residual assets should be transferred to Town Lands and Neale’s Charity. These funds totalled £23,299 and were received in December 2024.

Other income for the year was £300 from rents (Stony Lane land) and £65.85 interest on monies held in the CBF deposit fund.

Out goings for the year were hardship grants totalling £800 paid to residents of Reepham and £62 in bank charges. The trustees will continue to advertised the grants as widely as possible through fliers, e-mail and social media.

The Trustees’ financial reserves policy is that funds should not normally fall below £1,000. The exceptional circumstances of the transfer of funds from the Thomas Bulwer Charity means that level is significantly exceeded at the present time.

Church Lands Charity (Charity number 213557-2)

Objects: For the repair & ornament of St Mary’s Church Reepham

The income from the investments from the sale of land held by the Diocese of Norwich on behalf of the Parish, are paid quarterly, directly into the Reepham PCC Repair & Renewal restricted fund.

The total amount paid to the PCC in 2024 was £1,498.52.

REEPHAM CHURCH CHARITIES

Group of charities 213557

Trustees: The Rector and Churchwardens of St Mary's Church, Reepham

Reepham Church Charities was the overall name for several small charities, only two of which remain extant:

TOWN LANDS AND NEALE'S CHARITY

Objects of charity: general benefit of the poor in the Parish of Reepham

The assets of the charity consist of a field of 3 acres 23 perches (off Stony Lane Reepham), rented on an annual basis (this is not an agricultural tenancy);

plus money held in CBF Deposit account no.CB3030348-001 (Rector & Churchwardens Discretionary Fund) with a further amount held in HSBC account no. 71377159 (Rector and Churchwardens Charities account)

In March 2010, the land north of the Marriotts Way was leased to the Town Council for one year, while the possibility of selling or leasing the land long term for allotments was explored as part of the Reepham Low Carbon Challenge. A 20 year lease was signed in March 2011. The small area to the south of the Marriotts Way was leased to the owner of The Gabels Cottage for a period of 5 years from 01.05.2011, at a charge of £250 per annum, and is subject to annual renewal.

In December 2024, the residual funds of the Thomas Bulwer Charity (registered no. 244282) were transferred to Town Lands and Neale's Charity. These amounted to £23,299. Both charities had similar objectives, and the former has now been closed.
