Essex, CM2 8HF are registered with the Charity Commission (Reg. No. 213004) and constituied by Deed of Trust. They are part of the Almshouse Associalion (Reg. No. 605), and the Independent Housing Ombudsman Scheme {Re8. No. A2198). Ob"ective$. The objectives of the Charities, as laid down in the Deeds of Trust. are.. For the Relief of Need within ihe Parishes of Great Baddow and Galleywood. Provision of Almshouse Accommodalion for elderly and needy residents. Assistance with funding for the provision of Sunday Schools within the Parishes of Great Baddow and Galleywood. Public Benefit. The Trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on publi¢ benefit in carrying oul the Charities, activities during the year. Trustees. The Charities are adminisiered by a committee of Tnjstees comprising.. Three Nominative Trustee5 who are nominated by the Great Baddow Parish Council and serve for a period of four years. One Co-optative Twslee who serves for a period of five years. One Ex- officio Truslee, who is for the lime being a Team Vtcar of the Parish of Great Baddow. Durin the ear 2023: The Trustees on four occasions for ihe routine administralion of the Charities, business, including the upkeep of ten Rlmshouses. Charitable donation5, derived from interest on inveslments, were made to the Vicars of Great Baddow and Galleywood for the Relief of ihe Needy of the Parishes and to Ihe Sunday Schwls. Each resident of the Almshouses was presented with Christmas Gifts. There were no vacancies at either of the almshouse at Kinghams and St Mary's Court during the year. Only routine maintenance occurred during the year. Mr. Matthew Johnson, of Johnson Herilage, has been appointed to undertAke the work relaied to the key findings of the 2022 Quinquennial Inspection and work will begin in early 2024. A review of the investhienls look place ID November. At the same meelin8 the Trustees agreed a budg for 2024 and aj) increase in maintenance contribulions from alrnshouse residents. In lighi of the ongoing cosl of living crisls It was agreed to limit the increase in maintenan¢e contribulions lo below inflation. The residenls of Kinghams have also been supported financially by provision of an initial payment from the govemmenl's OPSS assislance. It was agreed thal reserves should continue to be at a level of £15,000 per property in case of urgenl or emergency repairs. During the year the Twstees reviewed the policies that the Charity Commission expects alrnshouse charities to have in place and those addilional policies reeornmended by the Almshouse Association. li was agreed that a total of ien policies would be pul in place and rolled oul in SLtccession during 2024 and 2025. INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF GREAT BADDOW PAROCHIAL CHARITIES
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2023
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2023 which are set out on pages 1 and 2.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
