DACORUM MENCAP Accounts for the year ended 31st March 2023 DACORUM MENCAP INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORTTO THE TRUSTEES OF DACORUM MENCAP I report to the charity trustees on my exarnination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2023 which are set out in the following pages. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity's trustees you are responsible forthe preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('theAct'). I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5Xb) of the Act. Independent examinerfs statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: Accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. The accounts do not accord with those records I have no concerns and have come across no matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. . DBS checks and references are carried out prior to commencement of employment of staff, volunteers and Trustees. Trustees are also informed of new regulations and legislation during their bi-monthly Trustee meetings. ## **DACORUM MENCAP** ## **TRUSTEES REPORT 2022-2023 continued** The object of the charity is to support and advise adults with a learning disability, unpaid carers, parents of people with a learning disability and other professionals who are involved in the learning disability community. Our services to the adult members of the community with a learning disability are a one to one befriending scheme (Friendship Scheme) and a social programme (ROAR) The Trustees have given due regard to the Charity Commission general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity’s aims and objectives and in planning its future activities In the planning of our events we also run short term educational or fitness courses and we will continue to pursue raising funds for our organisation. Our staff continue to offer a varied and interesting monthly programme for ROAR members. The Trustees would particularly like to thank the staff for all their dedication and hard work for Dacorum Mencap. The Trustees continue to ensure that we are receiving the best interest rates for our savings. We have reserves as at 31 March 2023 of £92503 of which £4800 is held in restricted funds, leaving £87703 in our unrestricted fund account. We have no debts, loans or overdrafts. We are still reliant on funding from Hertfordshire County Council to maintain the Friendship and ROAR schemes which has been renewed up until March 2024.
