the profound mission and values of the Gulld, our AGM at Lichfield Cathedral. another sgries of beaudful
advent refteGtions, new Healthy Healing Hubs launching and much more. Professor John Swinton will
joining the Gulld as president from October 2022 and I'm very much I￿king forward lo working with him. The
Board of Twste88 will be continuing lo leam and develop In the wa¢tices of good charity governan￿. with an
annual plan of work for each yèarto indude reviwng risks. ensurirwj poli¢ies are up lo dale relavant.

amounting to £700.760 at 31 Marth 2022. compared wtih £708.093 at the end of Ma￿h 2021. It should be noted
that the Tru5tses agreed to withdrdwals from the investments of £60.000 during the year to fund th8 planned
budggt defi¢il. Thare hove 8180 bean18rge fluctuations in th8 value of th8 investments caused ty th8 markets,

Incom8 has fallen to £49.137 forth6 ygar. compored vth £51.442 in 2021. Our aim through tha development of
the Healthy Healing Hub project is to so8 our incorr* inL¥ease yèar on year by 8ttractlng new mgmbers, through
the sale of resources and training and through a revised subsL¥iPtion m(NJel for churches who register as 8
H6althy HeBling Hubs. Despite the effects of the pand9mic. our plan romains to generate enough income to
enable the Guild lo be self-sustalnlng from ￿YellUe Income by a stsged process of reducing deficits by the year
endlng 31 March 2024. In the meantime, thar8 will b& planned withdrdwals from re8erv8s to t>)ver the planned
defich$.
Also. desptte the effects ofthe paThJ&mic. the truslees deckfed to continue wfth t1￿ launch of th8 Healthy Heallng
Hub project ￿lch happened in Novembar 2021. ockrb)wledging th8t this project Is the key part of the strategy to

Introductlon
When organisalions like the Guild of Heatth and St Raph￿1 g8t to around 80 years old, many come to a
natural end- either they have served their function. or else their original alms and objectives 8re no longer
relevant. Those who go on longer do so either because they reinvent themselves or they reinvigor8ts their
work basod on the founding vision of theirfounders. The Gulld of Health and St Raphaal is now well beyond
ts blrthday and so I have been wndedng which we have been doing- reinventing or ￿InVigora1ing7
We wgre origin811y set up to'pr8ach spirltual healing to tho church which has lost th8 power to practise iv and
to challenge th& church whlch had become resigned lo suffeTing arKI diseaso. so much so that people found
'this wortd of comparatively no account.. The Guild was bom to give confiden¢• to churches and Christian8 to
recover the power of the faith to bring h&811n9 and hope In thls world.
I have no doubt that tcthy. the vlslon of our foundats is stlll r616vant, urgent and needed. Ind88d. tFyou scan

wlll go through our areas of activlty to demonstrate how we have been meoting these aims in the past year.

Lwklng beyond. this has led to 8lr8tffjic development In volunteers. o)n$ultancy development and new
partnerships in the ￿rrent year- but it was in 2021-22 that we saw the loundattons of Ihls growth. gn)wth
which l am ¢onfident our founders would have approved.
I had a conversation recenly aboLrt tho difference betsveen sxophecy and'8 good idea.. 8nd how to tell the
dlfferen¢e. Prophecy Is a predidion of the future based on the prophet having a partIC￿l8r relationship wtth
God. Gocd Ideas arg those whlch are testsd by seeing rfthey work out In the end. we a prophettc
organisation, or are we lust dellvering gc￿yj ideas that seem lo be wc¥klng7
I don't fe81 entirely comfortable wfth eltherway of fiaming our work. To me, Ihe Guild of Health ar￿ St
Raphael 1$ a glft, and we are joining in with the work of God through the Guild in today's world- sharing the
hope and healing of the faith. reaching those In need, training churth leaders, working with mediane and
science. and pr￿18$MIng th& vision that all people flourish In mind, body and soul in this lrfe. Thanks b6

Tho Hoatthy Heallng Hub Project
The Healthy Healing Hub (HHHI projeGt is the maln way the Guild today supports. tralns and neiworks
churches to be a place of healing and hope in the communty. Through the Good Practi￿ in the Healing
Ministry Charter, and training and badging. the chur¢hes have confidence in th8 mlnisty they offer and others
have ￿nfidenCe to partner with them.

In the 2021-22 peri¢Jd, we welcomed 5 Bronze tier HHHS. We have also welcomed three Gold hubs. these
8re ¢entres of excellence from which we can base reglonal Iraining. In total, we ran 8 trainlng (tJur5es (all full

connection wlth others engaged in tha healing ministy th8t is of parti￿lar valua to our n*mbers. and thls is
an area Ihal we are golng to bulld upon.
Th8 proJecl Cojnllnues to develop: I have re¢enty talked to a prfson thaplain wants to 6slabli6h an HHH
chaplaincy. with the interfallh chapiains. In the futsjre. we will be introducing a falr pric8 policy, professlon811y
filming the training vido05. d8v8loping a volunteer ￿MmUnty, and18unching the silver and gc4d training
courses.

We have rrthed away from comm1881onlng blogs, and Instead focused on Ihe ￿mmunty ltsewwllh the
t8gllne. Together we flourish,. This motto has proved popu18r 88 It donotos the power of community,
connection, and a broad understsnding of the ministy of heallng.
Thls yearwe have added just over 100 new members to the GoHealth CcAnmunty. We saw p8rboJlar growth
through the email Advent retre8L ￿Te over 40 people joined. We have leamt that pBople e5pBcially value
the connection with others who have similar interests, arKI the role of prayer. Thgso are Iwo ore8S that we wlll
d¢velop In the comlng year.

now audiences who are encouraged to contlnue the ￿nVOrsation in the GoHeallh community. the HHH

We launched our se￿r￿1 season ofth8 podcast. Le8ming to Heel. where we explored in o)nveTration lopics
such as addiction. death and dying. and Irving with chronic illness. I chattod to a wide range of guests. who

m&mbgr5hip place. Indeed. in this period over 20000 people visited the website, up 160% from the prevlous
year. 68% were new visitors. The majority were from the UK, but theffj was also signrfi¢8nt Intere51 from the
US. Most referrals to the vMb3ite were from Facebook.
As a small ¢harlty. we slrfjve for 8fflci8n¢y. One of the way8 that w8 do thi9 18 by using the Denls Dul￿n
1g¢tures lo create group and Individual trainlng resources held on th6 moodle platform. These are available
tree to members and are run as group188mlng events In the GoHeatth Community.

A8 noted above, In-potson gathorfngs COn￿nued to be dlfficult In th18 pedod. However, we r8n many 8v8nts
online, including the 2021 Oenis DUn￿n Lectu￿ with Dr RLrth Valerio. Thls event had over 130 tickets sold
and was run in partne￿hIp wtth the Church of Swuand who continue to value the relationship. We also ran
number of smaller online events and training, including the healing potential of the hybrid church, a soclal
prescribing workshop. and a qulet momlng and a musl¢ and healing workshop.

Social media ci)ntinues to be a powerful way to reath w 8udiences. find new members and attracl people
with training events. We continue to work with a markeb'ng consumant who helps us refine and profflote our
m05sage, and to get people involved in our work. (￿$r tho laFt year we have reached ovar 164,000
on Fa¢el)ook (up 177% on previous year)

Alongside (Trating an online presen￿. I work hard to elevatè the Guild as a reliable and pawerfvl voice on
health, healing,and faith in the public squa￿. Thi5 has led to grovrth in netsI￿rkS and membership. trainin9
opportunlkne9. consultation work for tho Guild and a number of new &￿0]eCt9.
In this year, l appeared on UC8 Radio, Premier FM and twice on the BBC Local Sunday shows. I was also
Interviewed at length by the Lifefvlness [￿c&S( a leading ser￿1ar platfomj that explores the roie of
communrty in spirthjal development.
I preached in several locations around the UK IndLKiing Carrterbury Cathedral, Braseno8e College Oxford,
Ll¢hfield Cathedral and Bath and Wells Calhedr81.1 also spoke at 8 number of training events, includlng Slon
college in London, for the Diocese of Bangor, and a3 a group of theologi￿[ advisor5 to the Blshop of London.
l also sat on the $te8rirvJ group for the Archbishop of carrte￿u￿$ commission on the review of social care in
the UK. I led online workshops for Ihe Heartedge community. the Nation81 Hoaling Advisors Delwort and
New F8ith Deal Foajs groups for FaIttr￿ction.

l am gr8tefiJl to Chris Garnian in 2021-22 for h18 a88istsnGe with th8 financlal operatlons for thls year as we
continue to improve operations in tonns of efficiancy. wlicy, and governan￿. While op8rating with a deficit
budget 13 not Ideal. we are golng In the right dire¢tlon ffnancialty. InD)me is 5tablg and, with the investment In
stsff and web developments, I remaln confid•nl that we ￿11 see Ihe growth that we are aimlng for. Further
donatlons, Commissioned work and o)nsuttan¢y fees would also be good InrA)me streams to reduce the
deficlL
