Chair's report LN This year we have slowly continued our financial recovery leading to a positive improvement in our financial position. The boiler Maintenan￿ and running costs have levelled out but our overall costs are increasing especially as the fabric and fittings of the hall are now 11 years old. Our electrical inspection and testing in January was successful and the lighting and emergency lighting units replaced with energy efficient units. Our Hall Insuran￿ has req(Jested our compliance with new conditions for our Biomass boiler installation requiring weekly cleaning of the plant room and high level six monthly_ They are also requiring the wood pellet fuel store is emptied and cleaned out annually, a specialist job costing £1,480 plus vat. We are looking at boiler replacement as parts are not available and Linda is looking into any grant help that may be available. Our application for free solar panels is still slowly proceeding and On￿ this is completed it will make a big contribution to our electric bills. Fund raising and lettings are the main focus to ensure we have the income to provide this first class facility for the village. A big thank you to our hall manager lan Patterson Parkerwho makes sure everything happens and runs smoothly, thanks to Linda Howe for all her continued fund raising and administrative efforts, David Pamplin for the accounts and keeping us in financial order, the vice chairman Martin for his support and assistan￿ and i would also like to thank the members of the Hall Committee for their SUPPDrt and who are always on hand to help out. Secretary's report LH The Village Hall Gontinues to be well used by residents of Honington, Sapiston and the surrounding area. It has been particularly pleasing to see attendance by both regular hall users and sorne coming to recent events for the first time at. Some of the new attendees have been attracted by less formal events such as the Village Show, (thank you Sue, Julie and lan), a barbecue and a repeat of last year's successful village picnic. lan is kept busy with events and groups leading to the hall being used daily. Events include meetings, lunches, family celebrations and conferences. Community lunchès continue to be well sUPPOrted and community suppers. Although numbers are erralic, meals are popular and have proved a good way for new residents to be integrated into villagè activities. We held a well-attended Xmas Fair, {thanks Martin and Annette}, and ourAnnual Christmas Dinner. Other events included St George's Day draw, (thanks Sue), Church Harvest Lunch, Children's Easter Egg Hunt, parties and weddings.

.We continue to have a number of diverse groups providing opportunities for a wide variety of activities including Soft Play, Sequence Dance, Camera Club, Church Coffee Momings, Bowls. Art, W.1. Foot Clinics and local group meetings, such as Parish Council, Village Charity and the Tree group. Unfortunately, we have been unable to sustain the Drama and Pilates groups. Atthough we fa￿ increasing running expenses, we have managed to reduce our running costs, especially for energy, thanks to the expertise of our Chair, Len Newman. Many local residents responded to our appeal for regular donations and, together with Easyfundraising contributions, this provides regular income to help with ongoing costs. We are still in Ihe process of applying to install solar panels which is proving a lengthy process but some recent progress with The Big Lottery_ Grant funding h2s enabled us to develop the field behind the hall, rented from Euston Estates, and renew outdated light fittings. The Village Show Committee have provided funding for events which has been used to provide live music. We rely heavily on grants and are very grateful to West Suffolk Council, the Parish Council, District and County Councilors and private individuals for their continued support. Our hall would not run in su¢h an active and Su￿ssful way if itwas not for the efforts of lan Patterson Parker. He deserves all our gralitude as do other Committee members who give their time to ensure that we have a viable, valued community facility. 8.
