## Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended 31st. December 2021.

The name of the Charity is St. Christopher's Home for the Aged. The Charity's registered number is 210688. The official address is 12, Cuckfield Road, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks, West Sussex, BN6 9SA. The correspondent is Mr. J.E. Kearns,170, Western Road, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks, West Sussex, BN6 OTE.

The charity's objective as set out in the constitution is to provide a home for aged persons of 60 years and upward of unexceptional character, preference being given to persons who have for three years or upwards resided in the Civil Parish of Hurstpierpoint and Sayers Common or within the neighbouring parishes of Albourne, Clayton or Keymer.

The Trustees who served throughout the year were : Mr. Michael Nailard - Trustee. Mr. John Kearns - Trustee. Mr. Michael Barnes - Trustee.

The Chair is at the moment uncertain and consequently, all matters are dealt with by the Trustees.

The affairs of the trust and the operations of the home were performed by the Trustees. The Trust has followed it's aim during the year maintaining the building and surrounding gardens to a high standard. It was hoped that Flat 4 would be refurbished in 2020 and a New Resident moved in. Unfortunately, the Coronavirus Pandemic, Health & Safety issues and Lockdown rulings persisted well into 2021 and with the Contractors reluctance to attend on site prevented the refurbishment from going ahead until July, finishing in October at a final cost of £ 17,341.41, this figure being included within the Maintenance fugure in the enclosed Accounts. There was an additional cost of £ 2,094.15 for Council Tax costs incurred on the vacancy of Flat 4 outside the allowed vacancy period of 6 months. This is included in Sundry costs in the Accounts,

|

The occupancy rate during the year was 83.3%. We start 2022 with an occupancy figure of 100% and hope that we shall maintain this figure throughout the Year.

Registered Office : 12, Cuckfield Road, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks, BN6 9SA.

## INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF ST. CHRISTOPHER’S HOME FOR THE AGED

| report on the accounts for the Home for the year ended 31* December 2021 which are set out pages 2 to 6.

## RESPECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRUSTEES AND EXAMINER.

The Charity's Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. They consider that an audit is not required for this year (under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (The 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: examine the account under section 145 of the 2011 Act to follow the procedures laid down in the under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. BASIS OF EXAMINER'S REPORT My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with these records. It also includes a consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the Trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an Audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMENT

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention :- 1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect theTrustees have not met the reqirements that :- + proper accounting records are kept (in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act) and + accounts are prepared which agree with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act or :- 2) to which in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

J.K. Birtles, BA CPFA, 2 Hurst Wickham Close, HURSTPIERPOINT, BN6 6AL.
