## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES**

## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5TH APRIL 2022**

The Trustees present their report with the financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 5th April 2022. The Trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Charities SORP FRSSE and the Charities Act 201 1.

## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**

The Charity was established in 1953 to commemorate the name of Philip Hancock. In later years the name was changed to reflect the benefactor’s name. The foundation has money invested and receives income from those investments together with income from two deeds of covenant. The Trustees apply the income and the capital from time to time for charitable purposes at their discretion.

## **Governing document**

The Charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, and constitutes an unincorporated charity.

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**

## Charitable objectives

The Charity's funds are held to be applied towards such charitable purposes at the Trustees discretion.

The Trustees make a number of charitable donations each year.

## Public benefit

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in Section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission.

## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE**

During the year the Charity received £230,000 from realising part of the investment portfolio.

7 charitable donations were made to 7 charities totalling £95,000.

These are detailed on page 8 of the accounts. Charities were chosen from a long list of potential candidates with a focus on charities which Ron Hancock had supported in the past.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**

## **Grants policy**

For the financial period 6 April 2021 to 5 April 2022, no money was donated.

## **Reserves policy**

The Trustees have considered their retained cash balances and feel that they are appropriate to cover anticipated expenditure and contingencies during the next accounting year.

Page 2

**THE RON HANCOCK FOUNDATION**
