The trustees who are &lso directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report
with the financial statements of the charity for the year ¢nd¢d 30 Septsmber 2025. The tn￿leeS have adopted the
provisions of Accounling and Reporttng by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) applicable to
clwities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Fin&ncial Reporting Stsndard applicable in the UK and
Republi¢ of ITeland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2019).
ORIECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
Our mission is to support the ChrI￿18M kience Nursing ministy.
The objects for which the Company is established aTe to provide and mainlain in England a Christian S¢i¢nce
House being a nursing home 0￿rated in accordance with the pwtice and principles of th¢ tM)dy known &8 the
Church of Christ. Scientist and to operate a Visiting Christi4n Science Nurse Setvice (VCNS). The activsty in
these areas ceased as from 10th May 2023.
The Board consider that the reinststement of a Christian Science House is not possible due to lack of resource5.
A sister tn￿1 Whitehaven Trust Limited has undertaken to operate a chri￿lan Science Visiting Nurse Service and
the B(wd sees an opwrtunity in supportin8 this activity in the London and South East area.

The Trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefiL and we have abided ty the
underlying premise thal none shall be denied the care they need because they cannot meet the cost. This guidance
will underpin the planned activity of ihe Hawthorne Trust as we move fonv4rd,
ACHIEVF.MENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Charltable *¢tivi¢i
With the Closure of Charton Manor the Board h&1 focused its charitable activities in assisting the activity of the
provision of Christian Science Nursing care in people's home5. The following services are provided:
- Ordering of nursin8 supplies on behalf of Visiting Christian Science Nursin8 Seryices and individuals
- Lending nursin8 equiprnent
The Board a]so recognises the importance of the training and development of Christian Science nurses to meet
urrent and future demand for Christian Science nursing 5¢rvi¢es. The Board also allows Charton Manor Nurses
Training Centre to be used to train Christian Science nurses.
Hawthorne Tr￿51 Limited ￿sUMed responsibility for the athninistration of the Brenda Woodcock Memorial Fund
(B WMF) following the closure of the Beechfield Ttusl on 30 December 2014. The fund originates from a bequest
made hy Brenda Woodc￿k, inlended to support Chri5ti8n Scientists in need of residential Care within Ihe Uniied
Kingdom. The fund is maintained as a restricted fijnd for this pu￿05¢.

as fijnds.
The value of the tangible fixed assets hAs decreased to £1,536.238 (2024: £1.611,921). These consist primarily of
the buildings and are considered 'fixed' in the sense that they could not be sold readily to gener￿¢ cash without
underniining the ongoing work of the Compony. The Board obtained a professionai valuation ot. the property in
January 2024. which was vaiu¢d at £2,450,000.
Investments are assets that could bc easily turned inlo Cash (also Teferred to as 'liquid assets,). The value of thes¢
as of September 30, 2025 w&5 £5.248.171 and they provide a filwicial contribution lo Hamthorne Trust's income
each year. The investment income represented £148.577 Me￿Ing approximalely 340/0 of Hawthorne TNst'
exp¢ndilure. Investment income will vary with level of reserves and rn￿ket condilions, but over the last 10 years
has produced a valuable income in excess of £1,000,000 tor the Company. It is the policy of the Company to add
to or draw on these invesiments as operatin8 conditions of the Hawthome Trust demand. In 2025, totsl reserves
increased by £78,046 (2024.. decreased by £l17.909}.
The Balanc¢ Sheet 8nd Notes to ihe Accoun19 give further inforniaiion on creditors, debtors and cash in hand. The
funds are explained in Notes 18 and 19 to these accounts. Of the iotal of £7,037,911. £586,231 is held in the
VCSNS Fund (restricted fvnds for this activity). The remainder is available for the other activities of the
Company, some through restricted funds.
FUTURE PLANS
The Board are CUTr¢ntly exatninin8 alternative ways forward iti line with Charity Commi&5i(m and Company
r4uir¢ments.

STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBILITIES
The t￿SteeS (who are also the directors of Hawthorne Tn]st Limited for the purposes of company law) are
responsible for preparing the Report of the Trustees and the financial ststements in accordance with applicable
law and Unit¢d Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom fj¢nernlly Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company law Tequires the trustees to prepare financial stalements for each financial year. Under that law, the
Irusiees have elected io prepare ihe financial statements in accordance with United Kingdom Genernlly Accepted
Accounting Practice (United Kin8dom Accounting Stsndards and applicable law).
Und¢r company law the trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give
a true and fwr view of the srate of affairs of the ¢harilable company and of the incoming resources and appli¢ation
of resources, including the income and expenditure, of th¢ charitable company for that period. In preparing those
financial stalemenls, the trustees are required to
