Governing Document
The charity is an unincorwrated a55walion, govemed by rts Goll5ti1ulion adopted in 1950
and amended on 20 June 1994.
Appointment of Trustees
The Committee consists of not less than six members who a￿ elected at the Charity's
AGM. Trustees may be cmpled during the year and serve until the next AGM.
Organisational Structure
The trustees nomially meet at least ten times a year to Lxjnsider the bvsiness of the association.
Risk Management
The trustees do not consider that there are any substsntial risks iwond the liabalilies
disclosed in the financial statements. The assOciat￿[b hohl the freehohj of the 131-133
Cardiff Road. It holds public liability insurance.

The objective of the Charity is io promote independenceand awarenessotdeaf alld hard of hearing
people in Rea(Jingand surroun¢ingaTeas.
The Centre provides aciivitiestor deaf and hard of hearingthroughouttheyearasthe tocus point ol
social gathering. The Centre 3150 provides information and assistsnce tothosewho need in orderto
developtheir independence and eonfidefice.

Activities, achievements and performances
The Centre has seen numerous activibes such as". -
50+ Group- The age range is for 50+ and they meet on Tuesdays.
Church- Monthly gatherings
Deaf Social Club- normally a large number of members from Reading and
surrounding areas regularly meet on Saturdays. which include Bingo & Uno nights,
with 8-Pool every Wednesday evenings, we have two teams competing in Reading
Pool Leagues.
Outreach and Information Officer- Provides signposting information for the Deaf
communty, supports the running of communty. health and infomiation events and
outreaches to other serVi￿S to promote engagement and empowemient for the Deaf
community. They assist wth the smooth running of the Deaf Centre and supports the
Executive committee in implementing the philosophies and principles of the
organisation.
Children and Young People - Engaging and inclusive activrties for Deaf and hard of hearing
children and young people. designed to support leaming. confidence, creavity and social
connection in a welcoming environment.
Adult Learning and BSL Classes - Accessible educational opportunities for adults, including
British Sign Language {BSL) Classes, communication support, and learning sessions that
promote independence, skills development, and community engagement.
Older People's Activities - Creative and social sessions for older adults, including craft
activities and community gatherings Ihal encourage wellbeing, reduce isolation. and provide
opportunities to connect with others.
Health and Wellbeing - A range of accessible health and wellbeing activities. including
eclucational talks. chair yoga, and other supportive sessions focused on improving physical
health, mental wellbeing, and overall qualty of lrfe.
Accessibility Support and Awareness- Support and guidance to help Deaf and hard of
hearing individuals access services, lechnology, and communication tools. This includes
opportunities to learn about and use accessible se￿1￿$ such as Video Relay Services (VRS)
and other resour#es that promote inclusion and independenrR.

Coffee Mornings- These monthly sessions are for the community to come together including
those with children, where opportunty to play and chat, also specific presentations on various
topics.
Public Benefit
In planning our activities, we follow the Charity's Commission's guidan￿ on public
benefit at our tnjslees meetings. Everyone is welcome to the Centre regardless of
personal background, faith gender, personal circumstances, hearing or deaf to join in
the social activities. These benefit all people by developing their Self-confiden￿ and
social skills.
FINANCIAL RPrfIEW
Summary
The finan￿$ of the association is stable. There is a unrestricted fund balance of
£257,095 at the year end. The ￿Stricted fund balan￿ as at 31 March 2026 is £0

Reserve Policy
The trustees believe they should hold a minimum of £75,000 in unrestricted reserve to
meet its commitments and creditors of running the Centre and Capital Expenditure.

I report on the 2ccounls of Reading Centre for the Deaf for the year ended 31 March 2026_
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees ate responsible for the preparatton of the accounts.
The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year lunder section 144}
of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is
needed.

Basis of independent examinèrfs report
My examination was carried out in accordance wrth the General Direcb"ons gwen by the
Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the a￿ounting records kept
by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented wrth those records. 11 also
includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the a¢coLsnts, and seeking
explanations from the trustees concerning any such matteF5. The prwlures undertaken
do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audi( and consequently no
opinion is given as lo whether the accounts present a 'tnJe and fairf VEW and the report is limited
to those matters set out in the statement below.
