Four Trustees - two local Councillors plus one Co-operative & one PCC member 

Clerk to the Trustees 

TRUSTEE SELECTION METHOD: Trustees are appointed or reappointed at one of the biannual meetings. 

## OBJECTIVE of the CHARITY: 

The charity owns a field which it rents out to a garden centre.  The income from the rent is split 50/50 between Hutton Charities and The PCC of All Saints’ with St. Peter’s in Hutton for their fabric fund. 

## HISTORY: 

In 1575 George White of Hutton Hall bought “a croft of land called Portgeere containing nine acres in trust to receive yearly forever the rents and profits ….to give and dispose to such poor persons as do now and shall in time to come, inhabit in the parish of Hutton as live in great poverty, necessity or want; also in repairing the parish church”.  That charity is called The Ecclesiastical Charity of George White and makes its income from renting out the nine acre Portgeere field which is on the boundary between Hutton and Billericay.  For centuries the charity provided firewood and rental from the agricultural land and sometimes clothes and bedding.

The 2021 annual accounts are incorporated with Hutton Charities (registered no. 238119) and were audited by Mr. Brian Hayward on 3/9/22
