Report of the Trustees
The Trustees present their annual ￿port along with the financlal statements of The
Humanitarian Trust I'the Charity,, 'The Trust") forthe year ended 5 Aprll 2024. The Tru5tee5
confirm that the flnancial statements have been prepared In accordance with the accounting
pollcies set out in the notes to the accounts and comply with the Charity'5 governin8
document. the Charitie5 Art 2011 and Accounting and Reportin8 by Charlties.. Statement of
Recommended Prdctlce appllcable to charitles preparing thelr accounts in accordance wth
the Flnancial Reporting Standard appllcable In the UK and Republic of Ireland publlshed on I
January 2019.
Constltutlon and objects
The Humanitarlan Trust Is constltuted under declaratlon of trust dated 16 July 1946 by Mlchael
PolaK Vladimlr Idelson and Matwei GUn$bou￿ It Is a re8iStered charity (No. 208575}.
The objects of the Charity are for the Trustees to apply the Trust Fund and the Income thereof
to or towar(ts or for the benetit or in furtherance of such charitable purposes or charltable
Institutlons as the Trustees shall in thelr absolute discretlon thlnk flt.
Organ15atlon
The Trustee5 who have served durlng the year. and slnce the year-end, are set out on page 2.
The Charity has no employee5. The Trustees are selerted for thelr experlence and expertise.
Experlenced Trustees support new Trustees. The Trust Deed allow5 the appointment of
additlonal Trustees up to a maxlmum of 7 people.
Trustee5 meet twlce a year to award donations. review the Investment portfolio, and to
dlscuss the administratlon of the Trust. The Trustees have appointed an administrjtor to
manage the day-to-day operations of the Trust.
Grant maklng pollcy
The Trustees do not attept any unsollclted appllcatlons from charitles due to the ongoing
relatlonshlp that it has Wlth a number of organlsations which fulfil its charltable objectives.
However. the Trust occaslonally invttes charities to send in applicatlons for consideration at
Board meeting5.
Flnandal revlew and Investment polky
Durlng the year, the Charfty had income of £236.78912023: £235.5711 and theTrustees made
donations of £270.910 12023: £297.8201. The Trustees hope to malntaln the same level of
donatyon5 made by the Charity In the near future.
The Trustees have funds under management with Cazenove Capital who operate the
investrnent Strategy on behalf of the Trustees. Funds at fair value at 5 April 2024 were
£5,519,89712023: £5,332.560).
Total reserves at 5 April 2024 were £5.475,59312023- £5,239,493),

The Trustees hold investments which generate suffKiÈnt Income to meet the tharltable
obiertives of the Charity.
Reserves pollcy
The intention of the Trustees is to retain the long-tem) investment5. The investments produce
Income to cover the grants recommended by the Trustees and the related support costs. Cash
reserves are maintalned in order to meet forthcoming commitments.
Rlsk mana8ement
The Trustees have reviewed the major risks to whlch the Charity Is exposed, partltularfy those
relatin8 to the operatlons and finances of the Trust. The Trustees have 8iven consideration to
the appropriate poliues, procedure5 and systems to mitigate the Charity's exposure to those
risks.
Investment pollcy
There are no restrictions on the Tru5tee5 power to Invest.
The investment Strategy Is set by the Trustees and takes account of the demand for funds and
the quallty of the fundin8 applications. The Trustees consider the income requlrements, the
rlsk profile, and then the Investment managers, vlew of the market prospects In the medlum-
term. The strategy Is set withln an overall pollcy, whlch states that the funds be Invested In
low and medium rlsk investments wlth a vlew to ensuring that capital appreciation of the fund
exceeds Inflatlon. The unrestricted fund may be Invested In any type of Investment.
Publ1¢ Benefft
The trustees confimi that they have complled wlth the requlrements of settton 17 of the
Charltles Act 2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guldance publlshÈd by the Charsty
Commisslon for England and Wales.

Trustees, re5ponsiblllties In relation to the financial Statements
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees. Report and the financial statements
in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accountlng Stsndards includlng
Financial Reportlng Standard 102: The Financial Reportin8 Stsndard appliable in the UK and
Republlc of Ireland Iunited fingdom Generally AC￿pted Accountlng Practice).
The law appllcable to charltles in England & Wales requires the trustees to prepare flnancial
statements for each financial year whlch glve a true and falr vlew of the state of affalrs of the
charlty and of the Income and expenditure of the charity for that period. In preparing these
financial statement5, the trustees are required to:
select sultable accounting policies and then apply them consistentlv;
observe the methods and princlples In the Charltle5 SORP:
make Judgements and accounting estlmates that are reasonable and prudent,.
State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed subject to any
materlal departures disdosed and explalned In the financial statements. and
prepare the flnancial statement5 on the goin8 ¢oncem basis unle55 it Is inapproprlate
to presume that the Charlty will continue in business.
The Trustees are responslble for malntainlng proper actountlng records which disclose wlth
reasonable accuracy at any tlme the flnancial position of the charity and enable them to
ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charltles Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts
and Report51 Regulatlons 2LK18 and the provisions of the trust deed. They are also responslble
for safeguarding the assets of the tharlty and hence for taking reasonable steps for the
preventlon and detertlon of fraud and other irre8ularitSes.
The trustees are responsible for the maintenantr and integrity of the charlty and flnanclal

I report In respect of my examlnation of the Trusvs accounts carried out under sertion 145 of
the 2011 Act and In orrying out my examlnation I have followed all the applicable Dlrections
glven by the Charlty Cornmlsslon under sectlon 145(51(bl of the 2011 Act.

Flxed asset Investments
Listed investments
Listed investment5 are a form of baslc flnancial instrument and are Initially recognlsed
at their transaction value and subsequently measured at fair value usin8 the c105ing
quoted market price. Quoted Investrnents are stated at thelr fair value at 31 March
which is used to approxlmate to the balance sheet date.
Reallsed gains and losses
All gains and losses are taken to the Statement of Financlal A¢tlvltles as they arise.
Realised galns and losses on investments are calculated as the difference between sales
proceeds and thelr openlng carrying value or their purchase value if acquired
subsequent to the first day of the financial year. Unrealised 8alns and losses are
calculated as the dlfference between the fair value at the period end and thelr carryin8
value. Realised and unreali5ed investment gaifis and losses are comblned in the
Statement of Financial Activities.

Cash and cash equlvalents
Cash and cash equivalents comprlse cash on hand and call deposits, and other short-
term highly liquid investrnents that are readlly convertlble to a known amount of cash
and are subject to an insignificant risk ot change in value.
Funds stnKiure
All funds are unrestricted. The Funds are expendable at the dlscretion of the Trustee5
in furtherance of the objects of the Charity.

The charity Is a registered charlty and Is. therefore, exempt from Ilablllty to taxatkin on
Its Income and capital 8alns, to the extent that they are applied for charitable purposes.

Flnanclal instruments
The charlty only enters into basic financial instruments that result in the recognitlon of
financial assets and liabilitie5 such as trade and other debtors and creditors together
with loans to related parties.
Debt instruments, such 35 trade debtor5 and credltor5, are Inltially measured at
transaction prrce and subsequently measured at amorti5ed cost.
Financial assets are assessed at the end of each reportlng perlod for objective evidence
of Impairment. If objective evidence of impairment is found, an impaim)ent loss Is
recognlsed in the income statemenL

Critial Accountlng EstlnHtes and Judgements
The preparation of the financial 5tstements in conformlty with FRS 102 requires
management to make Judgements, estimates and assumptions that affect the
appllcatlon of pollcies and reported amounts of assets and liabilities, income. and
expenses.
Estlmates and jud8ements are contlnually evaluated and are based on hlstorlcal
experience and other factors, including expectations of future events that are believed
to be reasonable under the clrcumstances.
The company make5 estimates and assumptlons concerning the future. The resultlng
accountlng estimates wlll. by definition, seldom equal the related actual results. The
Trustee5 consider that there are no critical accounting estimates and Judgements that
have a Significant risk of caus+ng a material adjustment to the carrying amounts of assets
